Big Brother 2013 - First Launch

14 Jun, 2013 - 1:52 PM by Josy

New Presenter Emma Willis looked amazing last night as she kicked off the first half of the double launch show for this years Big Brother, she gave us a quick tour of the new Eco friendly house and then introduced 10 new housemates and a secret!

The latest batch of housemates included:

Jack & Joe - A set of twins

Sallie - Alternative Model

Callum - Sports Coach

Dexter - Celebrity Publicist

Jemima - Owner of dating site Golddiggers

Sam - Stockroom Assistant

Sophie - Dental Nurse

Wolfy - a student that likes to fish

And let's not forget A PEOPLES PUPPET! as part of a twist fitting in perfectly with the Secrets and Lies theme and for the first time ever, Big brother has sent Michael into the house, an an actor hired to fool the other housemates into thinking he's one of them, just a regular housemate that works as a postman... but in reality he's there to be controlled by BB and the public, wreaking havoc and causing problems for everyone else in there.

Michael - The People's Puppet

6 more new housemates will be unveiled in the second half of the launch show on Channel 5 tonight at 9pm, so don't forget to tune in!

I liked it. I felt Emma did a really good job, the housemates seem like a good bunch, but the twist and Michael seem a bit to fake for my liking.

Loved it! Great bunch of housemates and Emma is a fabulous host. If they had got a better actor the twist could have gone a bit better

Tried to like it. Like some of the house mates, liked Emma and the house tour but the montage at the end just proved my fears that nothing seems to have changed. I hope the main show proves me wrong but judging by tonight I am not sure. As for the twist it was a bit lackluster to me.

Pretty poor, none of the housemates are particularly likable yet and the twist is terrible just because the actor is bad. It's too easy to see through him, You need someone very Machiavellian to pull off a twist like this and he's not that by a long stretch.

Emma was fabulous though.

Emma was amazing. She proved tonight why she got the role. And she looked stunning. Loved the house tour, brought back memories. But, I still hate the cheesy pop music and the awkwardness when the housemates are waiting to gi through the doors.

I put disliked as yes while Emma is sexy and is a better presenter than Brian Dowling, and yes the house looks quite good this series, my main issue however is the Housemates, I can only see potential in one Housemate so far and that is not a good sign for me.

Same as my friend The Mockinator...except, I do not see how the 'Davina-Clone' was any better than Brian?
In fact, for a supposed re-vamp...I declare that I found both , the launch and housemates..pretty much over-familiar...and dare I say ..'a tad' yawny!

Cheers.

The HMs seem to lack potential and diversity on first impression but its early days like. I just found too many quite samey in that they are arrogant (Jemima, Dexter, Callum, Sallie = 50%) to try and force drama and confrontation. Then my favourite from VT, Michael, turns out to be the mole.

That said Emma was a brilliant host, the twist is great (but needs to be played cooler) and the house is clever. Rylan was very good on BOTS too.

Edit: AJ needs a little work.

I enjoyed it, Emma was really good I have to admit to that.
Hopefully some good housemates are still to come in tomorrow night as Mock says although I think at least 3 of tonights could grow on people as time goes on.

Loved tonight - but if Michael is going to work then they are going to have to be a lot more careful.

It was ok, not as excited or bothered as previous years though.
No housemate stands out really.
There are the typical lot, you have the slag, the weirdo, the smug bastard, the sob story, the obvious winner, the dull person that makes you wonder how the hell they got noticed during the auditions.
Emma was great, I like the house.

Who?

I feel like they focus too much on the HM's status such as model/gypsy background/boxer/press publisher etc.

Instead of people who lead relatively normal lives.

Loved Emma, we have an interesting set of housemates, and a great house. The suitcase thing was a bit limp, but there's still time for plenty of amazing things to happen with Michael.

I was a bit disappointed that all of the spoilers turned out to be true, so there weren't any surprises once we realized that the spoilers were real. But it was still exciting to watch. It was at least as good as any of the other C5 launches.

It definitely was NOT the complete overhaul that we were promised though.

I liked it. The best part of the night was actually enjoying the host again and then the house tour brought back waves of nostalgia. That and the fact that none of the HMs (but for one) had a fake tan and half of them seemed like REAL PEOPLE really gave me the feeling of the old BB. The lack of elderly men in drag swearing on BOTS and the live feed further drove that home.

But the camera pans, the entrance music, the stage and the ending montage were defiantly Channel 5's Big Brother. Will have to see how the first HL show is before I decide if the show has truly gone "back to its routes" or only half arsed it.

Oh and as for the graphics font: They could make the show into Saw and it would still have it. Its the C5 font.

I loved it. The return of the house tour was good as was the twist. I was convinced he was a postman until it was revealed he was the actor and is going to be entrusted with the task of causing chaos in the house. Regrettably, there is the return of the pop music when the housemates enter. I think it would be good if they just have the housemate coming out of the eye and walking to the house. Emma could then give a brief description of who they are, their pet hates and loves rather than the Big Brother theme having to be played 9 times last night.

Liked it - great house tour - superb mix of HM's so far makes a wonderful change from a house full of plastic people (fake tan fake nails fake hair etc) Emma did a good job (although BB will never be the same without the 'big brother house this is Davina') looking forward to part 2 tonight
