Brother star Imogen Thomas’ salon has blasted her for being a bad boss.
The Former Miss Wales closed down her nail salon on Cardiff’s Albany Road last week, just three months after it first opened.
The shop, called Imogen’s Nails, was launched in July, offering manicures, fake tans and waxing treatments, while S4C captured the first few weeks of
business for a documentary.
But according to the shop’s manageress Rebecca Rowsell, Imogen lost interest in the venture soon after it opened.
She said: “She was around at the beginning, but after that she disappeared to London. She never spent a full day there once the launch was over.
“I think she just thought of it as a little place for her to go and have her nails done.
“In my opinion, Imogen was an awful boss.”
Business quickly dwindled and another staff member quit and wasn’t replaced. Rebecca says she had difficulty getting in touch with Imogen to discuss
the problems.
She said: “We would only have five or six customers a week and the takings were really low at one point.
“I was the only one left and I was working until 7pm some nights, doing everything from the treatments to the looking after the money.
“It was really stressful, and Imogen was never there.”
After Rebecca handed in her notice, Imogen took the decision to permanently close the salon.
The model said she was in constant contact with Rebecca while the salon was in operation, but revealed she had lost about £30,000 of her own money in
the venture.
She said: “The passion had just gone. To be honest I just found that there were not enough customers in Cardiff.
“I was involved quite a lot and I was there as much as I could be there. I would call the salon four times a day.
“I have paid the lease for another year, so I could have kept it open, but it just wasn’t working out.
“At the end of the day, a job’s a job.
“Sometimes the boss can’t be there and “I’m really busy with my modelling in London at the moment.” |
