Ugly Betty Discussion Thread • Spoilers • Returns on September 5th
Use this thread to discuss Season 2 of Ugly Betty, which will launch in the UK on October 2nd.
The series is airing "in tandem" with the US broadcast of the show, meaning we will be getting episodes exactly one week after they have aired in
the US!
EDIT: Ugly Betty has been confirmed for a UK launch on October 5th!

Here are some (potential) storylines for Season 2 (according to Wikipedia):

spoiler text. | Season 2 will begin where Season 1 ended, with Santos possibly dead, or
is he? Daniel and Alexis will survive the car crash, however, when they return to work the Meade siblings could have another person joining them in
the Editor-In-Chief department when Illeana Douglas joins the cast as MODE's newest editor. Also, look for Alexis to deal with discrimination because
of her transgender status, while a May-December romance awaits Daniel.
Wilhelmina and Bradford are engaged and should have a "fall wedding" (expected to take place in November) as said in the season finale "East Side
Story". Also showing up just in time will be more members of the Slater family, and with Claire being a fugitive from justice (and is bringing Yoga
along for the trip), look for Wil to hire a bodyguard named Duane (played by Vanessa Williams' ex, Rick Fox) to keep the ex-Mrs. Meade from crashing
her party.
Christina's husband Stuart, whom she walked out on back in her native Scotland, will play a major role in the series.
As for Ignacio, look for Señor Suarez to stay in Mexico, a while longer as he tries to work out his citizenship status and dodging a revenge plot by
the associates of the murdered banker.
Regarding Henry and Betty, in the second episode, Henry returns to his job in the Meade offices because he needs health insurance. Betty tries to act
as though she’s fine with it. This season will also introduce viewers to a new character named Giovanni, who runs a food cart in the Meade building.
He is expected to win over Betty's heart in the wake of Henry's decision to follow Charlie back to Arizona, thus setting things up for a possible
love triangle, so don't look for Betty's romantic travails to be sorted out any time soon: Henry is still with the pregnant Charlie, whose questions
about who is really the father of her baby will finally be revealed in the fourth episode. Also look for Henry's best friend Kenny, a street-talkin'
wanna-be, make his presence known.
Wilhemina’s assistant Marc gets a romance this season. The plan is for Patti LuPone to return at some point in the season as Marc’s formidable mother
Mrs. Jean Winer, who may finally be coming around to accepting that her son is gay, sparking competition between Marc's mother and Wilhemina get
competitive over their respective efforts to fix him up with the perfect man (and the candidates, not surprisingly, turn out to be less than perfect).
Marc will also find himself the object of desire by a gay photographer (expected to be played by David Blue), who'll make his presence felt in the
sixth and seventh episodes and could end up being a recurring regular beyond that.
As for Amanda, she’s trying to figure out who she is – and how much of Fey Sommers' money she may stand to inherit. Early in the new season, Amanda
does get one bequest from the late Meade editor: A small, nervous-looking dog with a whole lot of medical problems. Amanda is less than pleased about
this portion of her potential inheritance. Also, look for Marc and Amanda to learn more of Amanda's family tree, and who her daddy really is. As for
the "Love Dungeon", look for Amanda and Marc to turn Fey's "Secret Place" into their own clubhouse.
Other changes will include the possible introduction of a female schoolmate of Justin's, who was introduced in "East Side Story", where she played
Maria to Justin's Tony in the school production of West Side Story and a male friend named Brandon, who might be a bad influence. Also, Justin will
be one of several Meade interns Marc has to manage. In addition, look for Wilhelmina to interact with Justin in future
episodes. |

I can't believe it's starting in October. I thought it wouldn't be till January like last year.
So this means that it will be finishing in March.

Can't wait for the new series! So many cliffhangers in that final episode of the first season, can't wait to see what happens next!

Aye I just saw that on Wiki. I don't get it though, because 23 weeks from now is around March 2008. So how will it go on untill June? That must mean
they have huge gaps where no episodes are broadcast.

Just read in a TV mag that Channel 4 have told them Ugly Betty begins in "early October". Looks like it is then

A quick update:
Having realised that the 2nd of October is actually a Tuesday, I looked up the Channel 4 schedules for Friday the 5th and there's a slot free between
9pm and 10.30pm.
I think we've found our launch day!
