The idea behind Bitching

I'm no psychologist, can anyone or has anyone got any ideas on this why bitching ever begins en mass by certain housemates (such as Luke, Mario and Jen)? I honestly don't think it is all down to playing a game (as it is the worst game plan you can use) - there has to be something behind it.

I mean, if you went into a house with a group of people you never met (gameshow or not), would you feel compelled to slag them off behind their back?

I just don't get it.
