As Peter (Chris Gascoyne) wakes with a hangover Simon's (Alex Bain) fending for himself again, making his own breakfast so he's not late for school. When Peter then arrives to work late Michelle (Kym Marsh) can see the state he's in. Fed up with his drinking and being left to run the bookies herself Michelle tells him to stick his job. It's another bad day for Peter and when he gets home he hits the bottle once more, telling a worried Simon he doesn't feel up to reading him a story. As Simon trudges off to bed alone, at the Barlow’s Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) is urging Ken (William Roache) to accept that Peter's an alcoholic. Ken doesn't want to listen but his reluctance to acknowledge his son's problem could have fatal consequences. Over at the flat Peter's drifting off into a drunken sleep. His fingers loosen around his burning cigarette and it drops to the floor.

Elsewhere Tara (Ayesha Dharker) introduces Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) to her star photographer Justin (Ralph Gassmann) and tells him she’s commissioned him to do some more pieces. Dev’s inwardly cringing, knowing his previous pictures were bought by him not a customer. But Tara's furious with Dev when he tries to curb her enthusiasm.

Maria's (Samia Smith) annoyed that her plan to pair Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) off with Tom failed when Natasha arrives back on the street boasting about spending another fantastic night with Tony (Gray O'Brien). Struggling with her own irrational behaviour Maria's then frosty with Tony when he calls by to arrange a business meeting

Kirk (Andrew Whyment) tells Julie (Katy Cavanagh) how he plans to get a job and save up to get them a place of their own but it’s obvious Julie isn’t really interested. Kirk's disturbed by her attitude but ploughs on regardless.

And Eileen (Sue Cleaver) has Paula (Sharon Duce) round for lunch. But when Colin (Edward De Souza) interrupts Paula can't wait to get away. Eileen can't understand her friend's strange behaviour.

This episode is written by Julie Jones and produced by Kim Crowther, the director by Pip Short.

Monday 30 March 8.30pm

Peter’s (Chris Gascoyne) cigarette sets fire to the carpet and soon the flat is filled with smoke. Simon (Alex Bain) wakes and phones Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride), telling her the flat is on fire, but as he desperately tries to drag his Dad out the pair fall. A drunken Peter is on top of Simon trapping him and as they breath in the lethal fumes they fall unconscious. Ken (William Roache) and Deirdre rush to the bookies in a state of panic. Smoke is billowing from the flat as Tony (Gray O'Brien) and Luke (Craig Kelly) break the door down in a bid to rescue Peter and Simon. Ken blames himself for not recognising how serious Peter's drink problem has become as they wait to see if they're too late.

Dev (Jimmi Harkishin) defends Tara (Ayesha Dharker) whilst Umed (Harish Patel) derides her gallery and the amount of money Dev’s wasting on her. Minnie (Poppy Jhakra) then arrives with the three framed photos Dev asked her to buy. Panicking he tries to hide them but it’s too late as Tara arrives and clocks the artwork. Tara demands to know what Dev is doing with the photos and he’s forced to tell Tara how he secretly purchased them to cheer her up. Furious Tara packs her things and leaves feeling totally humiliated. Dev's gutted and when he bumps into Prem’s accountant Lisa (Ruth Alexander-Rubin) he pours his heart out over a drink. Dev's not moping for long though and with the alcohol pumping through his veins he invites Lisa back to his flat.

Kirk (Andrew Whyment) lets on to Chesney (Sam Aston) that he knows he’s been bunking off school. Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) confronts Chesney about skiving off class, asking if anything's wrong, but Chesney tries to play it down.

Maria (Samia Smith) tells Tony (Gray O'Brien) she wouldn't like to see Natasha (Rachel Leskovac) get hurt. It's an awkward moment as Tony assures her he doesn’t want to see anyone get hurt.

And Rita (Barbara Knox) tells Eileen (Sue Cleaver) she’s thinking of planning a surprise party for Colin’s (Edward De Souza) 70th birthday.

This episode is written by Joe Turner and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Pip Short.

Friday 3 April 7.30pm

As Simon's (Alex Bain) life hangs in the balance Ken (William Roache) berates himself for not listening to Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) and tackling Peter’s (Chris Gascoyne) drink problem before it came to this. Peter's also devastated having spent a night-time vigil by Simon's bedside. As he prays for him to regain consciousness Peter vows to never drink again - all too aware that he nearly killed his own son who is not out of the woods yet.

Meanwhile Ken's had time to think about his own dark deeds and visiting Martha (Stephanie Beacham) he admits that he's a married man. Martha feels hurt and betrayed as she trembles with rage. Will Ken be able to plead his case?.

Back on the street Tara (Ayesha Dharker) turns up at Dev’s (Jimmi Harkishin) telling him she’s sorry she overreacted. Dev’s guilt-ridden knowing Lisa’s (Ruth Alexander-Rubin) in the bedroom. But as he arranges to meet her in the pub later to talk Tara’s none the wiser. Will he come clean about his one-night stand?

Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) drags Chesney (Sam Aston) to school against his will, despite his claims that he hates it. Fiz is furious with Chesney however when she discovers he’s been skiving again. She phones the headmaster to arrange a meeting but while she's making the call Chesney attempts a quick getaway.

Rita (Barbara Knox) tries to get Norris (Malcolm Hebden) to admit he doesn’t really want to go travelling with Mary but he’s adamant he’s looking forward to it.

And Michelle (Kym Marsh) offers Peter her support, reassuring him she'll help him get through this.

This episode is written by Carmel Morgan and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Pip Short.

Friday 3 April 8.30pm

Ken (William Roache) goes back to the barge and begs Martha (Stephanie Beacham) to talk to him. But he gets no answer as she sits alone and hurt. With no option but to walk away Ken's downbeat as he arrives back on the street revealing to Ted (Michael Byrne) how his relationship with Martha is over and how sad he feels. Ted assures him it’s for the best and as Peter (Chris Gascoyne) returns home he tries to focus on his family promising his son he’ll be there to support him now.

Chesney (Sam Aston) admits to Fiz (Jennie McAlpine) he hates school because he’s being bullied by Kenzie (Jack Cooper). Fiz watches as Kenzie and his mates jump on Chesney. Fiz is furious and grabs Kenzie by the scruff of his neck. Mr Griffin (Roger Morlidge) calls them into his office. Fiz can’t understand why Mr Griffin refuses to believe Kenzie is a bully until he admits that he’s seeing Kenzie’s mum. In a fit of rage Fiz announces that Chesney is leaving school and will be home tutored from now on. But back at home Fiz regrets her hasty decision, wondering how on earth she’s going to educate Chesney.

Kirk (Andrew Whyment) shocks Julie (Katy Cavanagh) when he finishes with her. He explains how he’s worked out that she doesn’t love him any more and thinks he can do better. As he claims she bosses him around and never takes his ambitions seriously Julie can't deny it. Stunned to be the one who's dumped Julie packs her things and leaves. On the outside Kirk's in control but inside his heart breaks.

Mary (Patti Clare) takes Norris (Malcolm Hebden) for a drink and tells him that her mother has died and that she’s relieved she’s gone. Norris is taken aback.

And Graeme (Craig Gazey) reckons Joshua (Benjamin Beresford) could be a very talented footballer. He suggests Claire (Julia Haworth) and Ashley (Steven Arnold) enrol him for the Under 7s team.

This episode is written by Mark Wadlow and produced by Kim Crowther, the director is Pip Short.

Just thought I would let you know, they were filming at my work today
I work in a theatre, they were filming the Ken Barlow affair scene, I was so excited, I tried to sneak in but it wasn't working, and I work in an office/studio so I was nowhere near the action.

It all looked very epic, they made over the theatre, made it more grand than usual haha. They were filming in the audiotorium, in the bar, outside the theatre.
I work at Oldham Coliseum theatre... so when you see it, that's where I work! :P

CORRIE bitch Rosie Webster is to land a huge windfall — from her KIDNAPPER.

Power-hungry Rosie goes on a spending spree with John Stape’s dosh.

But cocky Rosie soon becomes “Weatherfield’s most hated” after splashing cash on a sports car, designer gear — and a share in Underworld.

Disgraced teacher John (Graeme Hawley) sends her money from jail hoping it will make amends after he kept her banged up at his gran’s. The cash is from the sale of the house.

A source said: “John feels guilty. He thinks she’ll forgive him because of the money.

“He hopes it will mean he’s accepted back into Weatherfield when he’s let out of prison.”

But teen Rosie (Helen Flanagan) — who sold her story and posed for snaps to cash in on her kidnap — lets the bonanza go to her head.

The Underworld girls are seething when Rosie, an office assistant at the knicker factory, buys into the business after new boss Luke Strong (Craig Kelly) hits cash problems.

The insider said: “The factory girls are furious Rosie will suddenly become one of their bosses.

“And won’t she just let them all know it. She’ll become Weatherfield’s most hated overnight.”

Emmerdale is set to keep viewers glued to their seats in 2009 with a stunning line-up of new signings that will see the nation's favourite village re-vamped, re-ignited and raring to go. Leading the way is the explosive return of Charity Tate, as Emma Atkins reprises her role as one of the most memorable characters in Emmerdale’s history.

Charity will return in a blaze of controversy later this year to the shock of her daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) and ex-lover Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley). Charity was last seen in March 2005 fleeing the village with her son Noah after getting revenge on Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) by having an affair with her husband Jimmy (Nick Miles). Debbie was left heartbroken after begging her mum to stay and has been estranged from Charity ever since.

Charity’s return will follow the hotly anticipated return of Dales bad boy Cain Dingle next month and will throw the village into turmoil.

Emma Atkins says "Charity is a wonderfully complex character and an absolute joy to play. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to explore a new era of Charity, Cain and Debbie and will relish seeing what she’s been up to since we saw her last.”

Charity was famed for having the survival instincts of an alley cat and originally arrived in the village in March 2000 as a prostitute on the run. She became a key player in the Tate empire after marrying mogul Chris Tate. Her five year reign also included an affair with Zoe Tate and being framed for Chris’ murder. Charity then set her sights on millionaire Tom King, who she was due to marry until her arch rival Sadie tricked him into believing Charity was having an affair with Cain.

Gavin Blyth, Series Producer says "It's going to be an incredibly exciting year for Emmerdale with Charity and Cain back at the heart of the action. This is the first in a series of new signings and intriguing characters on the horizon and we're going to delight in reminding viewers that when it comes to compelling drama and commanding characters, Emmerdale is a force to be reckoned with."

It looks like Coronation Street's Dev Alahan will soon have something to hide.

The corner shop owner is set to have a fling with accountant Lisa Dalton, who he previously had a couple of disastrous dates with before he got together with Tara.

However, when his girlfriend finds out he paid for some of her gallery's artworks behind her back, she storms off in a huff.

Dev bumps into accountant Lisa again, pours his heart out over a few drinks and then invites her back to his flat.

Of course, few one-night stands in Weatherfield ever go off without a hitch, and Dev will have to think fast when Tara pops to his flat to apologise, not realising Lisa is hiding half dressed in another room.

Will Dirty Dev get found out, or will he do a 'Ken Barlow' and have an affair behind his partner's back?

Yay, Charity's coming back! I might start watching Emmerdale again, I watched a few episode the other day and I must say, I was impressed. It's really improved.
