Default Why BB4 went completely pearshaped

Just thought I would open this thread up, in light of how BB3 was a complete botch up

BB4 hasn't happened yet, has it?

Or have I missed something?

I seem to remember you running a similar thread about BB3 this time last year Sticks!

Well, despite the fact we didn't particularly take to it on here, unfortunately the great British public proved how fickle they were and did, instantly forgetting all that had gone before.

Let's just hope they forget that lot just as thoroughly, although Heat seems determined not to let them!

The main reason why BB4 was such a colossial faliure was due to Endemol / C4 ignoring the fundamental law of diminishing returns

That should sum up the impending calamity scheduled for this summer

Oh, lets not go back to this debate again!
We all know BB3 failed compared to BB2, lets not repeat it all over! Lets just look forward to BB4!

Sticks, what planet are you on, it's not started yet, it starts in about half way through May. Your jumping the gun a bit with the cynicals there.

But, it didn't fail did it! We hated it, but the rest of the nation didn't.

They watched in multitudes.

The advertisers will have loved it, and they will pay mucho mucho for a spot this year. Hence, I can confidently predict they will go for harassment and divisive techniques to prevent bonding from day one.

We should have known last year when they didn't build a den.

We can always cross our fingers that the rumoured 'Love Loft' makes an appearance during BB4, ROB.

Steve - Sticks may be jumping the gun, but it's another post nearer the magic 1,000 mark!

I really do hope that BB4 is a big improvement over 3. And I don't think that I will have to like it as much as I liked BB2, for me to think that BB4 is a success.

The one thing that bothers me about the new series is that, in my opinion, the HMs are becoming increasingly aware of how to perform in front of the cameras, how the public will react to the contestants and the opportunities that they will get from appearing on the show.

Re: the lack of the Den in BB3.
On the one hand the Den provided a place where the housemates could have been alone and provided a cooling-off place after arguments - as it did in BB2. However Jade and PJ would have just got it on with each other in there, rather than the bedroom in front of all others. Which makes me grateful that we were spared that.

I've often wondered why BB3 had higher viewing than the 2 previous series. Maybe it was the extended number of programmes or the live coverage on Channel 4 but I certainly don't think the figures are a true reflection of the programme's popularity with the public.

BB3 never dominated the front page headlines in the same way that BBs 1 and 2 did and it only seemed to attract negative comments from newspapers that had previously been enthusiatic about the show. It has not been repeated in any form on C4 or E4 and there has also not been a follow-up programme or even a calendar. I can't help thinking that if BB3 had been the first BB series in England it would not have been a runaway success.

For me BB3 went wrong right from the very beginning when they showed the housemates' audition tapes instead of the traditional brief filmed introductions that would have given a better insight into who they were in the real world. After 9 weeks I don't think I was really any the wiser. The loss of the weekly task seriously undermined the show's entertainment value and the rich/poor divide made for uncomfortable viewing. (Let's just hope the producers don't develop the idea further and and include a Room 101 where the housemates are subjected to their worst fears if they fail a task!) Hopefully the producers have learnt some valuable lessons from BB3, mainly that drunkenness, backstabbing, bitching and general unpleasantness does not make enjoyable television. I certainly hope that we won't see a repeat of the media's shameful treatment of Jade or the scenes that greeted Adele's eviction.

I'm optimistic that BB4 will be better than BB3; after all BB3 itself was significantly different from BB2. CBB2 showed that the format can still be entertaining. I, for one, hope that we shall again see interesting housemates getting along, doing fun tasks, having intelligent conversations and just generally enjoying themselves.

I enjoyed reading your post, Chris and I couldn't agree with you more. CBB was hugely entertaining without the need for rich/poor sides or copious amounts of alcohol. The celebrities were also kept busy with lots of tasks which solved the boredom factor.

If BB3 had been the first Big Brother, I certainly wouldn't have tuned in to a second.

I'm prepared to give Channel 4 another chance though so, with fingers crossed, roll on May and BB4.

IMHO the only downside to BB4 will be the fact that all the BB3 lot will be popping up to give us their "opinions" on the current lot in the house.

I'd much rather see the BB2 gang on our screens again!!

Last warning, Madkinns!

PLEASE do not use TiBB purely as a means to advertise your site. You're very welcome to post here, but it would be very much appreciated if any link to your own site could be included within your 'signature', and NOT as a direct link within all your posts on this forum.

Many thanks.

ah reminds me of my bigbrov3 days xxx

This post has really annoyed me! If you have a negative opinion before a programme starts then why bother watching it! Just look forward to it and don't dismiss it right away give it a few weeks x
