28 June 2006 EXCLUSIVE: BIG SNORTER
Pals' fears for Big Brother Pete as he goes crazy snorting animal drug By Emily Nash

BIG Brother star Pete Bennett got totally wasted after snorting lines of Ketamine, his friends revealed last night.

They told how they feared for his safety as he repeatedly tripped out on the mind-bending horse tranquilliser.

And they revealed how he was once taken to hospital after police found him half-crazed and rolling around on the ground.

Our exclusive photo was taken in 2004 - more than a year before Ketamine was made an illegal drug in January this year.

One of Pete's friends told the Mirror: "We would cook up the liquid Ketamine to make the powder then snort it on nights out.

"We were all really into it as an experiment - but Pete got more involved than the rest of us."

The pal said Pete, 24, started using the drug even more after watching his best friend die in a horrific accident.

Julian Brooker, 23, was electrocuted when he fell on to a railway line during a night out in Brighton in 2004. The friend said: "Pete really changed after the accident. He just retreated into himself and was even considering suicide.

"He started doing more and more Ketamine and I was worried about him." The friend claims things came to a head during a New Year techno party in Lewes, East Sussex.

She said: "It was horrible. The drug-taking there was beyond abusive and Pete got carried away.

"He was wasted, rolling around on the floor and laughing uncontrollably. I was scared someone might not take kindly to his Tourette's and might hit him.

"I remember trying to sit on him to control him. A friend called him over and next thing I knew we didn't see him again. People were throwing cans and bottles outside as the party came to an end.

"I was really panicking and saying 'Where's Pete?' Then a few hours later I got a phone call saying he was in hospital.

"The police had taken him there after seeing him rolling around on the floor. He didn't have a clue where he was and was very scared."

The friend said the incident was a turning point for Pete - and he cut down his partying.

She added: "He came out of his bad time suddenly, it was like he had a vision of his future and things he wanted to do and I think that led to him being on Big Brother.

"He wants fame and to be known for something. He's much better now - much more positive."

Ketamine, also known as Special K and Vitamin K, is an anaesthetic used by doctors and vets.

First used as a recreational drug in the 60s, it became popular in the early 90s, when clubbers often mistook it for Ecstasy.

It comes as a liquid but is often sold illegally as powder or tablets.

High doses can lead to hallucinations, paralysis and an "out of body" experience known as the K-hole.

The drug is psychologically but not physically addictive and can be potentially lethal if mixed with alcohol or other drugs.

It can also cause panic attacks, -. depression and worsen existing mental health problems such as schizophrenia.

It wont be true

Its a gossip newspaper
I love them, but hardly any of the stuff is true

Daily Star once said Shell had been evicted and had a double page spread, when Stuart was evicted.

I still love Pete
Its his business, its his personality I like not his past.

How can it not be true when there a picture there doing, this was in paper when he first enetered the house or a very similar stort. Pete partys and what he does is upto hes just enjoying himself. hell have ghis own limits according to that article not very strict. When he first entered the house article said that it was the special K that enhanced and made his torrets worse

try clicking the link, there is a picture of him actually snorting it.

if he still snorts it, then I have lost some respect for him, to be frank, i don't like drug takers, it's just stupid, and i'm not going to go into it.. If he has stopped taking it and has seen 'sense' then good on him.

For one thing, the pic doesn't even look like Pete. And even if it is, I won't change my mind because he just seems so ace and likeable on BB. Plus like I said we all make mistakes and move on...not everyone's past is perfect, so just targeting him based on what happened in the past would be wrong. Judge him according to the way he is right now - if even after seeing him on BB you don't like him that's fair enough!

PETE TO WIN!!!

they cant post a pic and state its him if it isn't. Its him with a slighly better hair vut then now. When pete did this the drug wasn't illegal and as alchol he used it to have a good time. Only problem was he didn't know when to stop and i think if i remember rightly od at on point on it. I read this when he first went in only 20% sure of it been true. But thats why his torrets is swo bad.

If I was Pete, I'd be rethinking who I classed as a friend. It makes me sick so called 'friends' sell their story.

Doesn't change what i think of him, just because someone said he did that doesn't mean he did, and if he did so what?
I like the Pete that is in the big brother house, doesn't matter what he did in his past! everyone makes mistakes!!!

Firstly, as the article states, it wasn't illegal at the time he did it.

I actually voted "more favorable," because it simply tells me more about Pete's life and what he's been through. To have gone through the bullying that came from his Tourette's as a child, and having seen his friend die in front of him, I'm hardly suprised that he would have some dark times in his life.

I certainly don't fault him for taking Special K. When I was around the same age (22), I did Special K a few times myself. Looking back, I probably should have been a lot smarter and not done it, but there's a reason the phrase is "young and stupid."
It's a party drug, but it really shouldn't be. You get introduced to it in party settings, but what it really does is deaden and free you from the world and even yourself for a while. It's a very seductive thing, and not something I'd ever suggest.

I can completely understand why, having gone through what he did, he would have been seduced by K. I also think it's a testament to his character that he found his own way out of it.

That's why my opinion of Pete is enhanced now.
