The Channel 4 press site listings have been updated, and Big Brother is listed on Friday the 1st of June...

The listings show:

8.30pm: Big Brother
9.30pm: Ugly Betty
10.30pm: Big Brother
11.05pm: The Friday Night Project
12.10am: Big Brother's Big Mouth

So Big Brother 8 is definatly starting either on June 1st or some time before. The day before (May 31st) is also a prime spot for a BB launch.

Personally, i don't think June 1st is Launch night. It seems too much like a special live show to me.

I think it sounds like a twist/special show.
In the papers there were rumours of a twist after the first 48hours if I remember correctly. If it starts on Wednesday 30th, like many papers have today said. This leaves the 48 hours for the first twist.
Also, Daniel Eatock on the Windows Live Space website, said a twist would be revealed about the eye on Launch Night, so maybe Davina tells us, then says "Watch on Friday to see it", if the twist is on Friday, this would be something to divert viewers from the Football. So its not just a ordinary highlight show

I think a June 1st launch would be sensible, because Ugly Betty ends the next week on June 8th, so BB would be shown at 10pm not 10.30pm more often.
June 1st also makes sense because Friday Night Project starts at 11pm on the same night, so this could coincide with the theme of Friday comedy/celeb.

I agree, it would be unusual for the launch to be on for an hour then an hour break then on again for half an hour. I think it will start on Wednesday 30th and this will possibly be an eviction.

Also, Sweets! you've got to tell us all the goss from BBLB unless you have to sign a secrets contract or something

I actually think 2 shows, one for 1 hour and another later show at 10.30pm might make sense, because obviously a football match would be on, so a ratings boost would be needed later in the evening. So, if in the 8.30pm show, BB got 6 million, more people would watch the later show, maybe getting 7 million.
