Okay so it was the first live show, and every year there are the usual sound problems, judge bitchiness and of course the prized scapegoat for the first elimination. Tonight certainly didn't disappoint in that respect.
Rachel Adedeji was first up, and she was always going to be! No story, karaoke song,as she sang Robbie Williams Let Me Entertain You, ridiculous styling and not amazing comments. Reminds me a bit of Kimberley from series four (yknow the one that got booted first), and funnily enough she wasn't even the scapegoat I was talking about. Alright performance though. Enough to get her to week two? I wouldn't be too sure. 5/10.
Next up was Kandy Rain, and they're my favourites prior to the live shows. They sing Robert Palmers Addicted To Love actually quite well, yet get slated by both Danni and Cheryl for their outfits. They don't get commented once for their voice which is a real shame, considering they were in the top half of the performances IMO when it came to their actual performance. Needless to say, these were the mentioned scapegoat, and will no doubt be taking 12th place. 7/10.
Following was Olly Murs, the above average singer from Essex. There wasn't much to say about his rendition of Robbie Williams She's The One. It was pleasant, but it wasn't anywhere near as good as I was hoping it would be. Saying that, more than enough to get him into the next round. 7/10
After the break was Rikki Loney, attempting the Amy Winehouse song Back To Black, and it wasn't actually bad. So the beginning was way better than the end and he wasn't anywhere near as good as he should have been on the song but it was passable for the first week. He's got a chance of being bottom two, but I think he can rely on the Scots for a couple of weeks.5/10.
And next up was Stacey Solomon. I've never been a fan of Stacey but even then nothing could have prepared me for the awful mauling of a classic song that took place. Singing The Scientist, everything was wrong. The costuming, the song and most importantly the voice. Off key for the majority of the performance and wailing for the rest, only to receive immense praise by both judges & forum members alike. Should be bottom two, but won't. 2/10.
After the second break was Miss Frank, the group who had been formed at bootcamp. Their rendition of Jackson 5's Who's Loving You. was the best performance of the night IMO. Funniest thing is that the two 'bookends' as Simon calls them, compltely outsung and performed Graziella. They should be safe, but I dont know if they actually have the fanbase to keep them in. 8/10
I'm gonna keep it short and sweet for Jamie. One of the better performances of the night, and he had a good song in Get It On by T-Rex. He'll be there for a while yet. 8/10.
Lloyd was next and he wasn't as bad as people made him out to be. So he wasn't good, and probably one of the worst performances ever on the live shows haha but he did manage to stay in tune. I blame Cheryl for the ridiculous choice of song, which was Justin Timberlakes Cry Me A River. He's staying though, for at least another five weeks. 3/10
Now Lucie was one of my pre live show favourites but even I was disappointed in her tonight. Her version of Leonas Footprints In The Sand wasn't anything special. Yes she stayed in tune, and yes it was pretty but it lacked the depth and emotion that Leona's had. She will of course be safe this week, but I'd like an uptempo number next week Dannii. 7/10.
John and Edward were the final group on stage, and it definitely wasn't a case of best till last. These boys actually can't sing, something which Bitchy Cheryl reminded them. I gotta give it to them, they've got guts to do what they did, but Robbie Williams would be spinning in his grave (if he was dead of course) after the murdering that Rock DJ got. Still, better than Staceys haha. I think they'll be safe for this week though/ 2.5/10.
Joe was the final boy to perform and woah was I impressed. I don't know anyone besides Diana Vickers who could turn a boring and ridiculous song into something special, but he done it with Robbie's No Regrets. A definite highlight for me and I'd be shocked if he wasn't safe. 8/10.
Last AND least was Mr Dullard IEATTHEMICROPHONE Danyl Johnson. Singing Jennifer Hudsons And I'm Telling You..., and it was awful IMO. Everything up until the last vocal orgasm was flat, monotonous and out of tune, yet he received endless praise from Simon Cowell, who presumably bums him. Not good atall, but I fear he's going to win. 2/10
So it was an alright show, a few standouts but a few standdowns aswell! People who should possible be packing their stuff just incase? Kandy Rain (regrettably),John and Edward, Rachel Adedeji, and on the off chance Miss Frank.
