24/10/09 X Factor Live Show 3 {Big Band Week}

We're now into the third week, and it's the annual Big Band week. This is usually a favourite of mine actually, as it's nice to see the contestants all dolled up properly, and singing some true classic songs.
First up was (unsurprisingly) Olly Murs, Simons scapegoat in the Over 25's, and he was singing Bewitched. It was a good way to kick off the show, but it wasn't amazing, which is quite disappointing as I thought Olly was really good last week, but not so much tonight. I hope he stays in tonight though, and although he isn't totally safe, I don't think he'll be leaving. 6/10.
Next up was LLoyd Daniels, the contestant that only teenage girls are allowed to like, apparently, and he was singing the rather predictable Fly Me To The Moon. It was the first time, I think that he's given an actual bad performance, and it's all down to Mrs Cole. She's given him really bad song choices and there's only so long he can pull them off for. He's in no way safe tonight, but like Olly, I think he will probably escape the singoff. 3/10
After the break was Miss Frank, and they were singing the song which made them a group in the first place - Frank Sinatras That's Life, and it was really good! No way better than their original version of it, and I didn't care much for the rapping, but they are slowly upping their game. I actually don't think they'll be leaving us tonight, although like the other two, nothing is certain this week. 7.5/10
Next up was Rachel Adedeji, the eighteen year old bottom two regular. She was taking on Tina Turner's Proud Mary, and I was impressed. I've not been a fan of Rachel since the live shows began, but tonight she certainly stepped up to the mark. Simon was right when he said it was like a different person singing, she was just totally different. She does still go out of tune alot in the performance, but I really did enjoy it for the first time in ages.Unfortunately for her, I think her twatty speech in the end sealed her fate in the bottom two. 7/10
Back to the overs, and over to Jamie Archer. We heard all about his bust up with Simon in The Sun newspaper, and now he was taking on a U2 song Angel Of Harlam. Yes, AOH on Big Band Week. It was dire. I don't think I can say it any other way really, he totally messed up big time after last weeks amazing performance. I do feel for him too, as it was Simons fault, but hey that's the way the cookie crumbles. He should probably start to think about gearing up for a place in tonights singoff. 3/10
We then went back to the girls and this time it was village idiot Stacey Solomons turn. Taking on the Cliff Edwards song When You Wish Upon A Star, Stacey began to remind me of Leona Lewis. And then she sang. From the off it was all over the place. constantly off pitch and key, and although she picked it up nearer the end, it wasn't enjoyable for me. She won't be anywhere near the bottom two, though. 4/10
Next after the break was Danyl Johnson, the serial crappist. He was taking on the well known Feeling Good and it was easily his best performance to date! It was the first night that I could see the potential that Simon was raving about. Won't be in the bottom two. 7/10.
We went back to the last of the boys and Joe McElderry. Singing Dean Martins classic Sway, I expected Joe to be better than he was. He wasn't BAD no, but there was nothing about him that stood out really. I'm not convinced that he can pull off up tempo tracks just yet, which is a shame as he is a really decent singer. He won't be in the singoff though. 5.5/10
After the final break we headed over to Lucie Jones, and she gave us a rendition of Mitzi Greens My Funny Valentine, and what a rendition it was. It was an almost perfect vocal, with the exception of the crack in the money note but my god she put herself in the running tonight with that. Really really amazing stuff. 9.5/10
Finally was Jedward. They sang Se Bangs and to be honest, the less said about it the better. They wont be going home. -5/10
So, with week three done and dusted, who is looking likely to be waving bye bye to their career? Well to me it looks like any from Jamie Archer or Rachel Adedeji, with Miss Frank and outside bet.
