I tried acupuncture years ago for chronic pain (which I don't suffer anymore). It didn't seem to help much. I do a little bit of reiki/energy stuff myself and meditation. But, it does help a lot with stress relief and helping me to unload...

I think Eastern medicine is underrated. I changed my PCP (main phys) to an Asian guy .. and so he is aware of both sides of medicine. There are a lot of common sense solutions doctor's don't discuss... like I dunno, checking to see if certain foods in your diet increase inflammation, exercise, etc... rather than relying on medications... medications can also mess up a lot of things, cause you to develop other deficiencies, etc. Painkillers and stress did a number on my hair, so I had to go on a shampoo to "restore" it. It grew out much faster and I have let it grow out since...

As for your acupuncture question, yes my doctor has suggested this as second line of defense... my PT seems to be helping, as I just got moved from 2/week to 1/week. The swelling finally no longer squeezing that nerve since we've been teaching my body to use the correct postural muscles again... has helped loads.

Yeah, I think it's from years of chronic pain/spinal spasms (which is cleared up now). So now if I do get something, it's acute and I'm like oh... this is different.

When she cracks my back, it is very therapeutic and instantly releases tension. It's felt like there were knots in my back and everytime she does it, it's like a few go away. The other therapist who referred me said that I have to basically exercise, readjust my spine... so I guess as long as I am doing PT and continue at home, it will eventually go back into alignment.

My poor husband just finished PT (for a torn hamstring)... we're both broke as ass and having to help each other with different things. It's kind of funny... he got hurt first, so my doctor calls mine sympathy pain.
