Yes 3D printing
is like magic |
Any chance I could get a fully functioning vagina printed out?
|
Oh yay just what we want. More guns!

Probably going to be marketed in Europe as there would be no market for this in the US since everyone in the US already owns a gun.

its not about the gun its about the possibilities of this technology!
22,000 children are dying every day of starvation! |
Of all the things they could print out, they choose a gun.
Typical. (Obviously Jesus has never heard of a sex shop if he has such artificial needs). |

This isn't a magic printer. The objects are made out of non edible materials. |

You can Buy a 3-D printer for 3K http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...00_638x429.jpg Easy to make: Schumer says a plastic, 3-D gun can be made for as little as $1,000 and can be accessed by any terrorist, convict or mentally ill person Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...#ixzz2SX1chl2L http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...53_638x505.jpg ['It's stomach churning': New York Senator Chuck Schumer plans to introduce legislation that would ban plastic guns made from 3-D printers] |
It's an ugly little thing isn't it. Looks more like a nail gun than a real gun.
I think it only works once, so it's probably going to be used mostly for suicides. |
Do these 3D printers make tea, earl grey, hot?

Arn't factories basically 3D printers? I mean that's what a factory is.

Think about how expensive printer ink is though, I'm sure the "ink"(i know it's not ink but you know what i mean) will be ridiculously expensive.
|
Its reuseable, fires one shot at a time.
The major problem is because it is made of plastic anyone that has the printer can make one and it cant be detected by normal detectors, used at airports, schools, jails etc. Most but not all ammunition still comes in metallic forms, the ceramic type are very expensive but not unobtainable. A terrorists dream? |
Quote:
I don't see how a terrorist would do much damage with this. if you can only get 1 shot off before you have to reload. That being said, i'm sure that someone will design a printable gun that can fire multiple rounds eventually. This is just the first version of it. |
Quote:
Really? It only takes one man to pull the trigger and one round to lets say assassinate a world leader. If you cant see how just one round(bullet) can change world history or affect things then you don't know much about history. Who says a terrorist or nutter would not carry more than one? Funny old thing though, sometimes terrorists don't act alone, they act in groups, it .wasn't one man per plane at 9-11! |
Quote:
especially when you could just buy a pressure cooker. You could probably do more damage with a machete in a large crowd, just slashing away with a sharp machete at people in a crowd than you could with one of these single shot plastic guns. People that want to commit terrorist attacks will always find a way. That doesn't mean we should take away more civil liberties though. |

I'm not sure what point you are making. |

Think about it, eventually one day, some terrorist group or some criminal gang will recruit a boy genius who may develop this sort of thing, but throwing the plans out on the internet for anyone to use is lets say a little irresponsible. |
So what are you advocating? More censorship of the internet?
Maybe we should also censor chemistry books. Evil people will find a way to be evil, censorship is not the answer. |
Downloads for 3D-printed Liberator gun reach 100,000

One of the biggest concerns about these, is that they wouldn't show up through airport metal detectors, potentially enabling terrorists to smuggle them on to planes.
|
Yes, this is very worrying.
|
Quote:
Yes as there is a World Market for it Supply and Demand |

But Bullets how do they get them through |
Very clever the technology used today, but a gun!!! really? surely something better and more usefull could have been made
|
Quote:
Yes loads of bits no longer made will be made in 3-D Printers But like the internet there is a Dark Side and this 3-D gun is the dark side. |
I worry that because it's plastic and a funny shape it really does look like a toy gun, so kids would be more likely to play with it. They really should make it look more like a real handgun.
