Things from your childhood that younger people would be baffled by

So I saw summat like this on Facebook but I hate Facebook and would never post there.

Anyway; the premise is, you're supposed to name or post something from your childhood that everyone your age would understand, but that "younger folks" would be baffled by without context. Like kids not knowing what a cassette tape is, etc.

Mine is simply this sound :joker:

My daughter: "WTF is that??"
Me: *explains*
My daughter: "....dial? What? What do you mean???"

It's a sound that I actually find weirdly exciting . The sound of the gateway to trolling, free music that took 15 minutes per track to download, and grainy 20 second porn clips. Ahh, nostalgia.

Back when this was the only way to contact people other than in person and phone calls were expensive, my best friends mom had one of these on their phone but we figured out how to dial numbers using the hang up buttons and foiled her lock :fan:

Really bright coloured inflatable stuff like chairs, photo frames, bins it seemed they tried to make everything inflatable I think my whole room was at some point and I had one of them giant green inflatable aliens....ah the 90s had a lot of nostalgia for me but they didn't think about the dangers of plastic back then!! Haha!

Can't really think from my childhood.

But later, it has to be having to turn the internet off on the PC to be able to make/receive landline phone calls :skull::skull:

You didn’t have a childhood if you’ve never been cracked on the head by a swingball

I remember my mum going nuts (on multiple occasions) because she was "waiting for a call!" that hadn't come because I was online and whoever was calling was getting the engaged tone for hours :joker:. My dad actually ended up getting a second phone line put in because it became such a drama :umm2:

Yep we used to keep them as pets as kids for a bit before letting them go (wouldn't do it nowadays!), in those small plastic fish tank things with the ventilated lids. Don't hear of them now.

Oh yeah I bought my lad a stick insect after I had to look after one from the school during the summer holidays...I thought you meant they lived wild in hedges in Britain.
