Del Toro to remake Eddie Murphy's 'Haunted Mansion'
 

Guillermo del Toro will develop and produce a 3D remake of The Haunted Mansion.

The filmmaker, who recently dropped out of helming The Hobbit, announced at Comic-Con that he is making a "scary and fun" movie based on the Disney theme park attraction.

"We are not returning Eddie Murphy's calls," del Toro quipped, referring to the 2003 film based on the ride. "We are not making it a comedy... We are making it scary and fun, but the scary will be scary."

Del Toro added in a Disney press release: “Dark imagery is an integral part of the Walt Disney legacy. After all, Disney himself was the father of some really chilling moments and characters - think Chernabog from Fantasia or Maleficent as the Dragon or the Evil Queen in Snow White.

“I couldn't be more excited to be a part of my own adaptation of the original theme park attraction Walt envisioned and that remains - for me - the most desirable piece of real estate in the whole world!"

It might be one to watch out for, I don't think he's done a bad film.

It will be very interesting to see, he's right, the early Disney films did have some actual scary things in them
