Twitter secrets: Details of British users to lawyers
Reported today
the first time SF , Calif., based Twitter gave up British users that were attacking a English council in a illegal fashion. This is a turning point. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology...r-legal-battle "The social network has passed the name, email address and telephone number of a south Tyneside councillor accused of libelling the local authority via a series of anonymous Twitter accounts. South Tyneside council took the legal fight to the superior court of California, which ordered Twitter, based in San Francisco, to hand over the user's private details." |
Like a MP said they can't lock up all the people that have mentioned it on Twitter.
Everyone was still mentioning it after the truth finally came out.. |

Disgusting... if I were Khan, I wouldn't hesitate to take this up with the European Court of Human Rights.
Also, I'd be interested to know how council tax payers in South Tyneside feel about their money being squandered on hounding a whistleblower in a foreign court. We need libel law reform and now. |
