Matt Cardle Promises Anthemic Album

Matt Cardle has described his debut solo album as "anthemic", and has promised that he has been heavily involved in the writing process behind the record.

The X Factor winner began working on the album earlier this year after the end of this year's X Factor tour.

"I"ve been writing with some great people," Cardle revealed to BBC Newsbeat. "For me to get my head together and get in the studio and get my inspiration back on track and start writing the album has been great.

"There's some anthemic stuff in there, there's some very upbeat stuff, there's some stripped-back soulful stuff in there. It's been such a whirlwind."

Cardle also said that he has been relishing the opportunity to bring his own musical influences into play during the recording process.

"My inspiration is everything I've ever listened to; Michael Jackson, Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Dave Matthews Band," he explained.

The singer became the first X Factor winner to sign a joint record deal in March, when he signed a 50/50 deal with Simon Cowell's Syco label and Columbia Records.

Cowell is reportedly keen to push Cardle as the reality show's first credible rock music act when he returns later this year.

Cardle claims that the album will be released at the end of this summer, but has yet to confirm the record's title.

At least he's not whoring himself out like some from last year.

Think he'll do a good job as long as he doesn't loose his roots and stays in his comfort zone.

well we'll have to wait and see whether he can do that. Insisting on writing himself may be his downfall.

Im only really interested in Rebeccas album. I think she can mix genres.

This is the problem with the winner of X Factor, they have to wait so long to get released their follow up single and their first album.

It has to coincide with the new series of X Factor, nearly a year after their first single got released. That gap can harm careers far more than help them.

Hi Joey,I think Matt has taken his time with this album it's good he hasn't rushed it,but I do agree sometimes it can harm a career, but imo Matt has something different from other XFactor winners,Matt does have a good fan base though and keeps his fans updated frequently on Twitter,so hopefully this album will do well,I cant wait for it and his single has been written by Gary Barlow,so that should be good :wavey:

I agree, if you look at someone like Katy Perry who's managed to have 5 number 1's in a year it shows what can be done in that year......this nonsense of waiting so long is killing their chances of longevity.

I heard a snippet of Matts new single Niamh,'Run for your life' and I have to say I can't wait for this to be released and the album has been given some good reviews too,so I think this album will be big.
