Microsoft divides its support lifecycle into two stages: "Mainstream" and "Extended." To be fair XP has had a real good run and still has almost two whole years left, thats a whole 13 years of service, and even better - people can even still use it and have perfectly functioning computers.

It'd be 13 years old in 2014 tbf. Surprising it's lasted as long as it has.
