This Weeks Shopping Task - 100
To pass this week’s shopping task, all Housemates must do is score 100 points. Over the course of the next two days, Big Brother will be setting Housemates a number of challenges where they can win points towards the 100 points target. Housemates may also lose points – for example, by giving in to the temptations Big Brother offers.
http://i47.tinypic.com/2prefef.png In the Living Area there is an empty container. Each time Housemates win a point, a red ball will drop into the container. Each time a point is lost, a ball will drop out of the container. Each ball represents one point. The number of balls will be counted at the end of the shopping task. If Housemates earn 100 points or more, they will pass this week’s shopping task and win a premium shopping budget. Failure to reach 100 points will mean that housemates will fail this weeks shopping task and receive an economy shopping delivery. DAY ONE SCALES OF SACRIFICE http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c...dleofhms_1.jpg There are a giant set of weighing scales in the living room which are accompanied by a set of three weights. The lightest weight is marked 5 points, the middle weight 10 points and the heaviest weight 20 points. Housemates are allowed to choose which weight they will attempt to balance. Housemates must use their own possessions to balance the scales. If they can balance the scales with the 5 point weight, they will win 5 points, the 10 point weight wins them 10 points and so on. Any items placed on the scale when balanced will be removed from the house, permanently. CUT OUT SMOKING A non-smoking Housemate must decide whether or not to sacrifice all the group’s cigarettes in order to win them a number of points. BURGER DILEMMA A Housemate will be offered a delicious fast food burger. If they choose to eat this, the group will be cost points. This dilemma will be repeated throughout the day. The number of burgers on offer to chosen housemates will increase throughout the day, subsequently increasing temptation levels. ROOM OF TEMPTATION – BB’S BEAUTY SALON A Housemate enters the Room of Temptation to be faced with their sister sitting and waiting for them in Big Brother’s Beauty Salon. They may spend an hour getting pampered and having a gossip with their sis, but it will cost the group points. GUNGE TANK The two Housemates nominated this week will take it in turns to stand behind a plinth. They must guess three of the Housemates who nominated them. The housemates they choose will take it in turns to stand in a gunge tank in the Garden. Deana and Lydia will gunge those housemates that they think are guilty of nominating them – Big Brother will then reveal whether or not they guessed correctly. If the gunged Housemate did in fact nominate them, they will win points for the group. However, if they gunged an innocent Housemate, they will lose the points instead. ROOM OF TEMPTATION – THE PHONECALL A Housemate will be invited into the Room of Temptation, where they will find a phone. An answer phone message will play, revealing a loved one who is waiting on the phone. If they pick up the receiver to talk to them, it will cost the group points. FREE TRIAL PARTY Big Brother will tease Housemates with a party, but it will be over before it has barely begun. If Housemates wish for the party to continue, the group will lose points. The task will continue tomorrow. Big Brother revealed this week's two-day shopping task to the housemates earlier today, who delved straight into part one of the task....

CUT OUT SMOKING

Arron, a non-smoker had to decide whether to sacrifice the group’s cigarettes to win 20 points, bringing the group significantly closer to a premium shopping budget. After the confused housemates had obeyed BB's instructions to bring all their cigarettes to the sofa area, the trunks-sporting model was asked to stand up and told of his choice. Silence hung in the air as the smokers looked on with shocked, widened eyes. Then suddenly Arron was attacking the cigarettes. After the deed was done and the silence lingered, Arron, quietly, in the voice of a child who knows they've incurred the wrath of a parent, said, "Just so you know, I did smoke for two years so I understand that this is a terrible thing to happen." Truly terrible, up there with the great wrongs of the 21st century. There were murmurs of support from non and infrequent smokers but silent fuming was all that came from certain quarters. Lauren, an addicted smoker threatened to turn into a "She-Hulk". "It was such a struggle to sit there and watch him do that," she said, drawing a comparison between this heinous act of cigarette-violence and the destruction of a beloved photo. Lydia felt it would have been better to lose the task. Cigarettes are more improtant than food, it would seem. Meanwhile, Arron was sitting out the backlash in the garden where he was joined by sometimes-enemy, sometimes-flirt-buddy Deana. "I would have done the same thing," she said. Could Darron rise from the ashes of Arron's current reputation?
Oh Big Brother you are brilliant. Arron faces becoming a VERY unpopular housemate indeed; he must decide whether or not to sacrifice all the group's cigarettes in order to win them a number of points for this week's shopping task. |

As if the last challenge wasn't difficult enough, this next challenge really pushed cigarette-less Lauren.

Lauren was faced with making a difficult decision. http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t...m/ma144910.jpg Lauren could spend some valuable catching-up and beautification time with her sis, or she could forfeit that to save the team five points. Lauren stood by the door, tearing up when Big Brother asked her to choose. She decided against spending some valuable, girlie pampering and saved the housemates a total of five points. Needless to say, Lauren is already fairly wound-up after the last 'cut out smoking' challenge where non-smoker Arron committed a gross act of cigarette brutality, leaving her and the other smokers without any tobacco, or anything smokable. Lauren was comforted and reassured by the housemates, who all admire her for making the tough decision. Alliances and feuds have been put on the backburner as they pull together as a team. Even though it's difficult for them seeing her upset, it's been good for them to put any residual problems to one side. |

There was more talk of nominations this afternoon, but this time there were no cold showers or alcohol bans, as all uses of the 'N' word were related to the forth instalment of the '100' task. Nominated housemates, Lydia and Deana, were given the chance to wreak revenge on their housemates, as they were asked to choose 3 housemates who they thought nominated them. The lucky person was then made to stand in a tank, where they were gunged with a foul smelling stream of fish guts. Talk about getting your own back! If they chose a correct housemate, they earned 10 points. On the flipside, if they chose the wrong housemate, they lost 10 points. So, there was a hefty 60 points up for grabs. Deana's choices didn't exactly come as a surprise, as she targeted the likely boys, Arron, Conor and Luke S. Although this was Deana's chance to enjoy a bit of schadenfreude, she was denied the opportunity, as the boys seemed to revel in the experience – well the first two at least. I'm going for the sheep". Big words indeed.
She chose Scott, Becky and Sara. Up first was Scott, who took the positives out of the rather bleak situation. Lathering the festering guts in his hair, he joked, "Is my hair okay? Putting her statement to the test, Lydia tried to validate her choice by saying, "You don't know who's telling the truth and who's not in here". She said, “I wasn’t caring about points I just wanted to find out who nominated me.” Lauren now wishes she had spoken to her sister when she had the opportunity for the sake of sacrificing 5 points. Lydia is convinced they have the task in the bag but if they all take her attitude, it remains anyone’s game. |

ROOM OF TEMPTATION - THE PHONE CALL
Temptation time for Luke A. Will he take a call from his wife? If anyone knows how to do temptation, Big Brother does. http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c...painface_1.jpg Earlier, Luke A was invited to a 'Room of Temptation' – a rather aesthetically pleasing room that we think would make Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen proud. But we're getting aside ourselves here... http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c...Roomoftemp.jpg Adorned with a plethora of pictures of his beau, the room was designed to tempt Luke A in to taking a phone call from his wife. The snag? You've guessed it – they'd lose points, five to be precise. To tempt Luke A further, Big Brother played a message from his wife saying she 'loved him' and that she was on the end of the phone if he wanted to talk. Tempting to say the very least... http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c.../pillowhug.jpg But our man from North Wales was strong and refused to give in to Big Brother's wicked ways. Not that it wasn't a difficult choice - the pain on his face showed that it wasn't something he took lightly. Leaving the diary room, he announced the task to the House and got major kudos from the other housemates. "What a f*****g lad", Arron said, before an army of hugs ensued. It even brought tear to Conor's eye, the big softy. |
SNOOZE BUTTON
Tensions run high this morning as the housemates receive their first fail for this week's shopping task. HMs were awoken at 7am as part of the Snooze Button task. They could have slept in but it would have cost points. Lauren doesn't take the new very well.
Oh Sara, Caroline and Ashleigh! "This morning housemates were woken up at the ungodly hour of 7.30am by Big Brother. The earliest wake-up time this series. But this wasn't any old wakeup call – it marked the beginning of the second day of their Shopping Task, '100'.This wakeup call challenge, Snooze Button, required all housemates to wake up on time and...wait for it... not fall asleep! Wow, that's what most of us in the working people in the world have to do like, every day. Ashleigh, Caroline and Sara nodded off, and cost the housemates a total of five points. Of course Lauren is livid because she could have seen her sister in Big Brother's Beauty Salon for that amount of points, but she decided against it, saving the housemates five points yesterday. We wonder if the three napping culprits feel like their extra Zzs were worthwhile. The girls apologised to Lauren at intervals (they both claimed they "didn't mean to fall asleep").
But Lauren's too miffed right now. They have no choice but to move on with the rest of the day's challenges and they must function as a group to earn their food, so we're guessing Lauren will find some middle ground, forgive the girls and bury the hatchet." |

BREAKFAST DILEMMA
"I just ate a whole f**king onion," said Adam. No, the House hasn't fallen on hard times. The man was just playing his part in 'Breakfast Dilemma', the latest instalment of BB's '100' task. In the Diary Room, Ads was presented with the option of eating a Full English and losing 5 points or devouring a raw onion and gaining 10. Like a trooper, he tucked into the daddy of all onions as if it was an apple. http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c.../1adamexit.jpg Enthusiasm waned as he struggled through the tennis-ball-sized treat. On leaving his mock dining room, the LA-export made immediately for the tap. http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c...2adamwater.jpg Water could not hold back the onion which, minutes after entering Adam's gullet came flowing back out accompanied by surround-sound cinematic vomiting. Arron was there to congratulate Adam both on eating and regurgitating the onion. Apparently, it gives you heartburn if you let it digest. ""I've done it before," revealed the Manc model, "it's not nice." Why exactly has Arron eaten a raw onion before? We worry about that boy's lifestyle. On the note of dedicated onion eaters, what a shame that Chris and his grandfather-powered wisdom of 'an onion a month is good for your health' wasn't around to enjoy the moment.

Big Brother will also offer some Housemates temptations which cost points, or challenges which may cause them to lose points.
Yesterday, Housemates won a total of 70 points. SNOOZE BUTTON Housemates are woken up at 7am but offered the chance to hit the snooze button for an hour – however each time they do it will cost points. BREAKFAST DILEMMA A Housemate must choose between two options for their breakfast – one is a raw onion, to win points. The alternative is a cooked breakfast which will lose the group points. SICK ‘N’ MIX A Housemate is called to the Diary Room. They are offered three sweetie jars, each different sizes and full of pick ‘n’ mix. The bigger the jar, the more points it is worth. The Housemate must choose which jar to eat from, but to win points they must eat all the pick ‘n’ mix within 5 minutes, and do it on a spinning roundabout in the Garden. ROOM OF TEMPTATION – NOMINATIONS REVEALED One Housemate will be offered the opportunity to watch all the nominations placed for them so far, but points will be deducted. FINAL THROWDOWN Housemates must pick three Housemates to win as many points as they can in their final challenge. Set in the Garden is a long slide, which has been made slippery with water jets. They must propel themselves along it, throwing balls into small holes in order to win points. However, if they miss the holes and the balls fall into the gullies, they risk losing points. |
SICK 'N' MIX
The next instalment of the task requires Caroline to sit on a spinning roundabout for 10 minutes whilst consuming a large jar of sweets. We know Caroline has a sweet tooth, but can she keep it down? The Shopping Task, 100 strikes again. In this round Caroline was called to the Diary Room and offered three sweetie jars of different sizes, each full of pick ‘n’ mix. The bigger the jar, the more points she could gain towards winning their premium shopping budget. ROOM OF TEMPTATION - NOMINATIONS REVEALED

Big Brother offered him the opportunity to see a video of who had nominated him over the last few weeks - in exchange he would need to sacrifice 5 points from the team total. Cue Luke S at his most pensive, with much pacing, brow furrowing and verbalising of his internal monologue. Wrestling with the devil on his shoulder, he reminded himself that Lauren held onto five points by turning down the chance to speak with her beloved sister but not all housemates had been so selfless. Luke S decided to look elsewhere for moral guidance. He said, "It would be a good watch, a very good watch. As Lydia would say, it would be ‘very valuable information’." With just one more House task to go a mere five points could be the difference between a luxury food budget and standard scram. "She lost 20 points," he mused. "I just need a cover story. I could say they let me watch the football highlights and I wasn't allowed to talk about it." After more than an hour and a half it looked like he was going to show himself to be one of the good guys declaring, “I can't do it to the House," but he wasn't done with his dilemma yet. Following a third visit to the Diary Room, it felt like Luke S was really starting to milk his part and we were considering kicking back with a game of charades while we waited for his decision.
And what did he decide? He turned Big Brother down. Jesus spent less time with the devil in the desert. |

THE FINAL THROWDOWN
Big Brother is a slippery customer and the closing challenge in the 100 task confirmed this. Still 20 points off target, the three housemates up for Final Throw were under pressure.
The task required each one to slide along a chute, scoring points for the final position of their bodies with 20 being the maximum each could earn. Typical squabbles ensued as housemates selected those to take part but with just a minute to make a decision, Scott, Conor and Luke A were up. Lauren took control. "We are going to be very quiet so you can talk to each other about what you are going to do," she said. Optimistic perhaps - when have the housemates even managed to stay silent? Although not the obvious athlete, Scott was the one who talked tactics, "It's easy to go far," he said. "Better to go stronger than milder. Oh lord have mercy. Don't be mad if I get it wrong." Following quite a flap he delicately launched himself onto the slide, securing a satisfactory five points. Luke A gained approval from the housemates after scoring top marks - and showing us his first smile for a good while. Could there be more than one place to fill at the outsiders table by the weekend? A bit of show boating ensued from Conor before he hurled himself down the chute with dubious dexterity. Housemates are confident they have been successful meaning a 100 per cent food task pass rate to date but are they right to be so smug? It's gone to a photo finish.
Housemates have passed the 100 task! There's some confusion over scoring but housemates are happy. Big Brother will reveal the results later this evening so watch this space for to find out how well housemates will be eating next week. |
