The Gold Rush (Shopping Task)
 THE GOLD RUSH Today is the beginning of a two day shopping task DAY ONE – Teams are divided and play two tasks in order to win time to pan in The Rocky River of gold on day two. DAY TWO – Teams will play the final game for time, then pan for gold. The winning team will be granted immunity from nominations. The amount of gold accumulated by all teams will decide whether or not housemates have passed or failed the shopping task. DAY TWO ENDS WITH FACE TO FACE CAMPFIRE NOMS Set in the gritty American West, this two day task sees the 'The Good Housemates, The Bad Housemates and The Really Ugly Housemates' going head to head in the search for gold while fighting for immunity. THE SHERIFF AND THE DEPUTY Big Brother asks for the most powerful, strong-minded and influential Housemate to come to the Diary Room. The Sheriff also chooses one Housemate to be their Deputy. Their word is now final. WHAT THEY ARE PLAYING FOR: At the beginning of the task each team starts with one minute to pan for gold. Winning a mini task adds one minute extra to pan in the river on day two. The three teams will play two western inspired mini games on day one and another mini in the morning of day two. All games are judged by The Sheriff. SUNDAY DAY ONE: TASK 1: “Raw Hide” The Sheriff and Deputy appoints one member of each team to take part. The three chosen Housemates will each choose who they want to shoot. The three Housemates being shot at are locked inside stocks at one end of the Garden. Housemates line up with their backs to the shooters. They are wearing chaps which have very realistic hard bums coming out of the back of them. The bums are the targets. The Cowboys / gals in the stocks have back pad / protectors on under their costume. The shooters each have just 15 seconds to aim and shoot their bum target. Each team has a different colour paint to shoot with – Pink, White and Blue. After all three Housemates have shot, the Sheriff and Deputy will judge who the winner is based on who they think hit the targets the most amount of times. TASK 2: “The Hoedown”: The three groups must choreograph and perform their own group routine to a piece of country music played by a live Ukulele band in the House. They all perform to the Sheriff and the Deputy who will decide the winners by awarding the winners with a first place rosette. Task update Now in the world of the Wild West. A cowboy gunfight gets the housemates out of bed this morning followed by the reveal of the garden with cactus plants, barrels and crates. In the living room they find straw bales in for the seating area and a giant buffalos head on the wall.
Conor felt most at home in this world and so by going to the Diary Room became the Sheriff for the next two days. Conor chose Caroline to be his Deputy. Sheriff Conor and his Deputy Caroline are NOT immune from being nominated Together they chose The Good Housemates, The Bad Housemates and The Really Ugly Housemates. As part of today's new task Sheriff Conor and Deputy Caroline have to divide the house into teams based on personality. The Good were chosen as Scott, Sara and Luke S. Ashleigh, Deana and Adam were chosen as The Bad The Really Ugly were chosen as Lauren, Luke A and Becky.
The housemates do some hilarious impressions of hillbillies, cowboys and convicts.

Big brother had a bummer of a game for our housemates during the first Gold Rush task, fittingly titled ‘Rawhide.’ Three housemates were picked by Conor and Caroline as shooters – Scott, Adam and Luke A and they in turn selected Becky, Luke S and Ashleigh as their targets. The targets strapped on fake bums and were secured in stocks. The Good, The Bad and The Really Ugly had ten seconds to fire at them with paintball guns. Scott showed himself to be trigger happy successfully showering Becky’s plastic butt with paint bullets. http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c...paintball6.jpg Luke S emerged saddle sore after squealing like a baby as Adam rained shots down on him. This could well be the catalyst for pistols at dawn. Adam’s finger slipped on the trigger releasing an unexpected shot which Luke s has not stopped complaining about, claiming he did it on purpose. In return Adam called Luke S an asshole after he purposely wiggled his bottom throughout Adam’s quick fire. Ashleigh dropped out citing fear of paintball meaning Luke A had to chose another housemate to aim at. He picked Lauren, officially now our toughest housemate who took the onslaught without moving a muscle. She was even up for a re-shoot after Luke A claimed the trigger had stuck. Needless to say, Luke S is suffering from a seriously bruised ego and even accused Luke A, who’s finger also slipped of having it in for him even though that shot landed nowhere near his precious posterior. The Sheriff and the Deputy decided Scott was the best shot meaning The Good have earned 30 seconds of gold panning time. Conor, with a twinkle in his eye, rubbed salt in the wounds telling Ashleigh she wasn’t a ‘team player’ and Luke S ‘he would not have made a good Deputy’. With Luke S sulking, Adam feeling cheated out of a top performance and Lauren showing up the Stoke softie, we are sitting back and waiting for the garden to turn into the OK Corral.

The housemates faced another competition as part of the Gold Rush task. This time their choreography and coordination skills were put to the test. Was it good, you ask. Darn tootin'! The three teams (The Good, The Bad, and The Really Ugly) went head-to-head on the dancefloor with a mish mash of dance moves, accompanied by a live ukelele band. Yesterday the good Housemates, the bad Housemates and the really ugly housemates took part in two challenges. They were competing for 30 seconds of panning for gold time in The Rocky River of Gold which will take place on ‘Day 2’. Big Brother has told the housemates that whoever pans the most gold on Day Two will receive a very special prize!
Task One: Raw Hide Sheriff Conor and his Deputy Caroline chose good housemate Scott, bad housemate Adam and really ugly housemate Luke A to become the shooters who would be shooting paintballs at their fellow housemates. Good housemate Scott chose to shoot at ugly housemate Becky. Bad housemate Adam chose to shoot at good housemate Luke S. Really ugly housemate Luke A chose to shoot at bad housemate Ashleigh. However, Ashleigh declined to take part in the task and therefore the bad housemates were disqualified. Really ugly housemate Lauren took Ashleigh’s place. The Sheriff and his Deputy decided good housemate Scott had the best aim and awarded his team with 30 seconds of panning for gold time in the river. Task Two: The Hoedown The good, the bad and the really ugly housemates once again went head to head in a Hoedown dance off. They choreographed and performed their dance routine accompanied by a live ukulele band. Sheriff Conor and Deputy Caroline judged The Hoedown and awarded: The Good Housemates with 3rd Prize. The Bad Housemates with 2nd Prize. The Really Ugly Housemates with 1st Prize. |
TASK 3: SPAGHETTI WESTERN
http://bigbrotheruk-s2cdn.channel5.c...s/spag_bol.jpg For today’s task “Spaghetti Western”, the good, the bad and the really ugly housemates will be going head to head in a ‘Cowboy Vs Food’ eating challenge, eating their way through huge mounds of spaghetti. The plates will be inspected by the Sheriff and The Deputy at the end of the task and they will award the winners based on which team they believe has eaten the most amount of spaghetti. The team crowned the winners will win thirty seconds of panning for gold time in the ‘Rocky River of Gold’ later today. The Sheriff and Deputies decisions are final but Big Brother is the law. THE ROCKY RIVER OF GOLD For the final challenge, the ‘good housemates’, the ‘bad housemates’ and the ‘ugly housemates’ will be frantically panning head to head in “The Rocky River of Gold”. The group which pans the most amount of gold in The Rocky River of Gold will win ‘The Gold Rush’, and receive a very special prize: immunity from today’s nominations. The gold from each team will be collected. If it passes a certain level then housemates will receive a luxury shopping budget this week. NASTY FACE TO FACE NOMINATIONS: As the day draws to a close, housemates find themselves out on the range playing cards... and taking part in face to face campfire nominations. Housemates each have a pack of cards. On each card is the face of a housemate who could be nominated. The three housemates who won immunity earlier on today are safe and have had their cards removed from the deck. Housemates must choose the two Housemates they wish to nominate by selecting their cards from the deck and one by one revealing the Housemate they wish to nominate, giving their reasons why. |
This morning housemates woke up to a merky river in the garden. They try to work out the task. This could get messy.

Housemates will shortly be entering the Garden for the final challenge “The Rocky River of Gold”. All teams have automatically been granted with 1 minute to pan for gold.
The Good Housemates have 2 minutes panning for gold as they won ‘Raw Hide’ and ‘Spaghetti Western’. The Bad Housemates have 1 minute panning for gold as they won no tasks. The Really Ugly Housemates won ‘The Hoedown’ and have 1 minute 30 seconds to pan for gold. The winning team will be granted immunity from tonight’s nominations and the accumulated amount of gold will decide whether or not they pass or fail this week’s shopping task. |
The Good Housemates (Sara, Luke S and Scott) are the winners of The Rocky River of Gold, and are rewarded with immunity. They will still be able to nominate however.
Becky is not best pleased with Luke A over their teams failing over the Spaghetti Western Task...

The 'gold panning' challenge signalled the end of the Gold Rush task and the final chance for housemates to secure their luxury shopping budget. Knee deep in The Rocky River of Gold, housemates threw themselves into the task, with the Bad proving themselves to be good at something at last although having failed to win any earlier tasks, they had the least time to pan. The Good triumphed, gathering the most gold nuggets and earning the team immunity from this week’s nominations. The threesome – Luke S, Sara and Scott will still be able to nominate although they may wish they had been made exempt from that instead.... Lauren threatened to take off her wet costume against Big Brother’s wishes and she did, briefly before putting it back on again. This little lady is not cut out for rebellion. The total amount of gold gathered by the three teams decided whether or not housemates won the shopping budget part of the task. They failed meaning it will be economy rations this week – cowboy beans perhaps. Luke S complained Big Brother had made the task too hard on purpose. We’ll miss the Big Brother House on the Prairie, it’s been a darn tootin’ giggle. Eight housemates await their fate as the sun sets on another day and nominations time draws closer. |
