The last six series on Channel 5..

Have aired in less than a year and a half.

Before we even reach the two year anniversary of it's return there will have been eight series, including three main and five celebrity. Assuming it continues at the same rate, they'll air their 11th series before the third.

In January, CBB will match the current main series count. If both shows continue to be renewed without changes to the current schedule, a year later it'll match the main series count as it stands then for the first time since CBB1, and in 2016 it will overtake it twice, the second time it won't catchup. In January 2018 the celebrity version will be 3 series ahead of the main version and in January 2020 it will have over taken it by 5. By the end of 2020, less than eight years from now, the main series will be on it's 21st run and the celebrity series will be on it's 26th.

The more the better, or is it all too much?

Too much I reckon, I would rather they stuck with just one of each per year

Matt 05-02-2013 12:19 PM

I highly doubt it'll still be on air in 2020

The celebrity series I'm not too sure, we highly doubted the show would ever reach channel 5, let alone it's 6th series of it, when those talks kept braking down, the most recent series was their best rated yet, so it's showing no signs of slow down yet, and like IAC and Strictly, I don't think it will, it's more likely to be off than on, but it's only projections, as I said, this is hypothetical. I can definitely see it being cut back to one of each or just the celebrity series before it gets that far though.

Far too much, but as Matt said, it won't be too long before the series is runs dry. I reckon 5 could squeeze another 5 years out of it.

Same poll on DS, very different results, combined:

The more the better = 32.93% (19 votes)
Too many = 66.07% (37 votes)
Total votes = 56

They need to get rid of the summer celeb series. If CBB passes BB :bored:

Too much, but while a fan base of around 2.5million remain (give or take), then it's going no where. Five are overkilling it, and in the longrun it will damage the brand and it's viewing figures, i can only hope that another channel picks it up next year.

We nearly lost it for good, so the more the better in my opinion.

People keep saying having too many will damage the brand - face it; the brand was ****ed in the final years on C4. No one else is going to take it - so as long as 5 has it, it's good.

I haven't finished watching the past two celeb series I'm getting tired of it :/....and I used to be obsessed with bb.

Maia 05-02-2013 09:31 PM

Too much. Back to just 2 series a year pls, having another CBB straight after the main series just kills the atmosphere of that being the last Big Brother until next year because of another one starting straight after, also how there's 2 CBB winners in 1 year...it's supposed to be an annual tradition not something that happens every few months.
