Turning A Blind Eye [Dilemma]
You spot two men running past your house late at night, looking anxiously behind them. You discover the next day that a convicted paedophile was viciously attacked in your neighbourhood.
Do you report your sighting of the two men to the Police? |
No.
|
Yes
|
No, because:
a) I have no idea if they had anything to do with the incident at all and b) I keep to myself all the time anyway  |
I would probably say yes because I want to get involved in the drama
|
Nope, I wouldn't know if it was them.. and paedophiles shouldn't be made a victim by people caring if they get attacked or not.

Plus you can't just let people take the law into their own hands. |
Also even if I wanted to, what do I remember about the men?
|
I honestly don't know for sure but probably yes I would.
|
That's quite a difficult one to answer.
I'd have to say no because I may put myself/my family in jeopardy by turning these two in and having to deal with them (if they haven't done it), or their families, or even anybody who would suggest that I'm potentially sticking up for a paedophile if they did do it. |
No, he's a pedophile, he deserves to get beaten up.

People like that deserve everything they've got coming to them, wouldn't have any sympathy whatsoever. |

I suppose if I knew anything substantial I might be tempted.
But if it was simply two people running away I wouldn't say anything. |
Yeah if the police were asking if anyone had seen anything that night I would probably report it, then it's for them to decide what to do with that information and take any action. Have never really supported vigilante justice so I wouldn't take it upon myself to conceal anything

I wouldn't report it

Something similar to this happened not far from where I live.
A pedo got put in a house in a street about 5 minutes from my house and kids used to go and throw stones in his garden and basically some guys were outside his house causing trouble and he came out to shout at them and they pushed him over and kicked him and even though people witnessed it nobody would speak to the police. |
Kids willingly went to a pedo's house? :umm2:
|
We've had issues before where people have been attacked mistakenly for looking like convicted paedo's or sharing the same name as them. Now I know your story says the person is convicted but I wouldn't know that at the time and for that reason I can't support people taking the law unto themselves and assaulting someone without knowing the full facts of the situation.
|
I agree with Kyle. I remember the paediatrician who was attacked because some knuckleheads couldn't read. Besides, no one passes my house in the dark unless they're lost or up to no good. Presumably the "convicted" paedophile is either out on bail or has served his time and is on a register. In any case, no one should be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
|
No, because my dog would have flayed them both alive
Sorry but no one has any business running past here in the dark unless you are a deer |
