X Factor 2013 winner Sam Bailey about to be dropped by Simon Cowell?

Quote:

Last year’s X Factor winner Sam Bailey has revealed she may be dropped this week, just before Christmas.

The 2013 champ put out an album of covers back in the Spring of this year, selling over 100,000 copies of her LP.

She returned to the live shows just a few weeks back to perform and plug a special Christmas edition of the record.

But now her future is in doubt just days before Christmas as her contract with Simon Cowell’s Syco record label is up.

“My contract has finished today with Syco so I don’t know what is going to happen. I just don’t know,” Sam said. “There is a cooling-off period and then there are negotiations, so we’ll see. I could be *unemployed tomorrow.”

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “There are other things I could be doing, I am getting a lot of interest in all sorts of directions.

“There are other things I want to do. Negotiations start this week. I just want to get Christmas out the way first.”

Despite Sam’s future with Syco being up in the air, the former winner will still be heading out on tour next year as she headlines her own concerts across the UK.
Won't be surprised if this bore did get dropped.

she's a very good singer so if she gets dropped she can easily get signed by another company hopefully anyway :fc:

That's fair enough though, they get their shot and if they're not bringing money in they should be dropped, he is running a business after all

She's just not good enough.

In her defence though I haven't even heard this song being played on any Music Stations.

Thie contract is for a year you cant blame him in a way if she is dropped, as she was pregnant for most of the contract, so she probably couldn't commit herself fully.

I didnt watch it last year but it was obvious to me that she was not someone who was likely to break America., I'm not surprised by this. I think it shows that it doesnt really matter who wins not every one is capable of giving Simon the kind of success he wants. To say Sam has no market is incorrect IMO if Susan Boyle has a market then surely Sam Bailey does to. Simon is once again proving that your vote dont really matter he decides who he gonna be a star no matter who wins the competion.

I think only Tamera Foster has the ability for America from that year. I'm not sure if you heard of her or not

She has not release stuff yet which is wise because she wasn't ready last year, but if she got the right stuff for her album she most likely do well, She came 5th

It is indeed erinp5, what a sad reflection on the music industry that once artistes fail to make the top 10 the record company just dumps them.

I was reading the books of British hit singles and albums and decades ago, artistes were with the same label for ages, getting big hits at times, small hits at other times and even releases never making the charts at all but the record companies stuck with them usually.

Now,it is get top 3 positions and more to the point hit albums too, also of a high chart placing otherwise you are dropped sharpish.
It shows how shallow Simon Cowell and his organisation is and that they care nothing really for most artistes careers or in fact the artistes themselves either.

Mystic Mock 17-12-2014 08:23 PM

Tbh from last year the only ones that stood a chance at having success in the charts was Luke, Tamera, and Rough Copy (I know that Rough Copy did flop though) and from this year it's a four way shootout between, Lauren, Fleur, SK, and a small chance for OTY.

Andrea will do fine in Classical productions as well I feel.

Tom4784 17-12-2014 08:44 PM

I'm a Celeb, CBB and, worst of all, Loose Women awaits her.

Mystic Mock 17-12-2014 08:52 PM

I hate Loose Women.

And shouldn't they be focusing on trying to get a good follow up to AATB and that other one that hates on men this time?
