It's been a rough few months for Olympic gymnast Louis Smith. Maybe a few trips down the ski slopes on The Jump can turn it all around…

The controversial athlete is the latest celebrity to sign on for Channel 4's extreme winter sports competition, which returns for its fourth series early next year.

"I've had some ups and downs in 2016 so am massively looking forward to getting stuck into The Jump," he said (via The Sun).

"As a professional athlete I'm massively competitive. I love skiing and I'm pretty fearless when it comes to any snow sports so can't wait to get out there."

It's been a rough few months so let's ring in the new year with a few broken limbs.

There were so many injuries the last series, I thought they might have scrapped The Jump for good.
