Man, I remember when I used to go to the local youth centre and Skepta would be there DJ'ing or dropping bars. It's going to be surreal seeing him perform at the Brits. Inspirational man...

Black Dagger 22-02-2017 03:29 PM

The awards will be played really safely this year and the performances look weak. But I am watch.

LeatherTrumpet 22-02-2017 05:40 PM

What sort of bars? Chocolate? Iron?

I hope he picked them up after himself?

MB. 22-02-2017 05:45 PM

Are you baiting for an argument? because you know your not suppose to.

Don't worry, you wont be infracted, you're on the right side.

MB. 22-02-2017 05:50 PM

No, I'm saying that "oh really, what kind of bars is he dropping?" qualifies for the least funny joke ever posted on this forum

I honestly cant see any but Emeli Sande winning best British female but most of the categories are wide open this year and anyone could win and i cant remember when it was less unpredictable

Funnier than anything you have ever said on this forum. You're constant doom and gloom, at least I try.

Shaun 22-02-2017 05:52 PM

Her album didn't make #1 and none of her singles charted in the top 20, plus it was pretty average and not well-received by critics. Would be like giving it to Jessie J.

LeatherTrumpet 22-02-2017 05:53 PM

i swear if that collection of no marks little sh1ts wins anything i will throw my 60" in da river

But she has been the only one who is well known and released stuff i am just not sure they will give it to someone hardly known

Denver 22-02-2017 05:55 PM

Btw red carpet is live on ITV2 now

Shaun 22-02-2017 05:57 PM

Anohni is pretty well known in music circles, her albums have been up for 3 Mercury Prizes.

I mean yeah, there's no chance of Lianne or NAO winning, but think the populist vote will be split between Emeli and Ellie, and anyone who actually values good music would swing towards Anohni. Not to mention they'd revel in the chance to:

- give the first ever award to a trans artist
- give it to someone overtly political and likely to say something controversial

MB. 22-02-2017 05:58 PM

Ellie's released one song this year (to put that in context, it's only one more than Amy Winehouse, who was nominated last year)... Emeli's probably still the most likely contender if they're still trying to make her a thing, which... well, the bird's already flown on that one, but if not then yeah I'd say that Anohni's next most likely, especially if the Brits are keen to be perceived as diverse and in any way credible
