I think it'll rate similarly to CBB18 if promotion and launch have promise

Well, considering the last few launches for regular BB:

BB12 and BB13 both launched with 2.6m.
BB14- 2.13m (Night 1), 2.11m (Night 2)
BB15- 2.10m
BB16- 1.83m
BB17- 1.60m

The show has been decreasing every single series for normal BB, I can't see it being reversed.

So, I'll say it will launch at 1.44m overnight (1.7m official), and series will average quite well and not drop a lot, and overnight average of 1.33m (official of 1.5m)

Looking at the launch figures,BB17 held on well compared to others.

That'd be almost impossible surely? If it rated as well as that it'll dive over BB14 quite a bit and become the most watched series on C5. I'd be very surprised.

TBH I don't see why it shouldn't atleast reach BB14's ratings:
BB13 got 1.6m and BB14 got 1.9m which was an extra 300k viewers,
BB17 got 1.6m and this series sounds promising (so far), even Rylan said it would go back to basics to the social experiment format; to me it sounds like they're mixing the good things of both C4 (not manipulated, diverse) and C5 (modernised, shorter series that don't drag) into one

I get it, but I see 14 as the "freak" rater, like BB3 and BB5 (less so) were for C4 as for C4 every other series up until BB8 rated between 4.6-4.7m.

The standard C5 average is 1.6m, with BB14 being the "freak" rater with 1.9m and BB16 being the below average one with 1.4m.

12, 13, 15 and 17 all had a 1.6m average. I don't think a regular series will reach BB14 levels again. For me, I see 1.6m as the official rating ceiling.

1.4 for launch

supertv247 22-05-2017 06:28 PM

Launch - 1.6 million overnight (1.75m officially)
Series average - 1.3 million overnight (1.7m officially)

I think it'll launch pretty much the exact same as last year, and will do ever so slightly better in overnights too (if they keep it at 10pm and avoid love island). I think it will add slightly more in catch up figures on top of this (they rise every single series I think) and will therefore average slightly better than the 1.6 avg BB normally gets.
I think launches don't do any special numbers these days and that whatever BB18 gets on launch will be beaten often throughout the series

EDIT: this is if launch is normal (e.g. Tuesday 6th June 9pm) if it's on Sunday, against BGT or love island or at 10pm or something stupid then scrap everything - 1 million

T* 22-05-2017 06:49 PM

Launch: 0.9-1.2 million
Average: 1.3

It's going to be hard for BB this year and here's why.

I have looked at C5's performance these last couple of months and the months from March-now, has been a very good couple of months. I don't remember a time of BB outside of CBB that C5 has been doing so well.

The Yorkshire Vet for example has been getting 2m overnights and timeshifted to 2.44m last week. We have Can't Pay, On Benefits, Slumdog Landlords, Rich House/Poor House , GP Behind the Closed Doors, Elizabeth doc, Police Interceptors, documentaries like the Shannon Matthews one, which have done very well. Then we had the Cruising with Jane did very well on Friday....all these shows have done BETTER than the average BB has got on C5. Which is odd, it proves that C5 can pull audiences of 2m+ officials. So even IF BB18 does slightly better than the standard 1.6m official, it will be rating as just like the 7th highest show on the channel!

However on the flip side, the fact that C5 have been doing so well just means more people have been watching whilst they are promoting BB and those ads are coming. I recall in the run up last year, barely anything hit 1m so less people were being exposed to the BB promo. In the last couple of months, C5 have constantly gotten 1m+ easily.

I think the launch will be around 1.60 m to 1.50 m then drop significantly after that.

Daniel-X 22-05-2017 08:51 PM

I think launch will actually be really low:

Launch: 1.2
Average: 1.4

supertv247 24-05-2017 08:55 AM

A reminder that last year's launch officially averaged 1.86 million and the first highlights averaged 1.84 million... I think this year's second episode will actually beat launch, the gap has been getting smaller every year and now if launch does face love island I easily see it happening

supertv247 24-05-2017 08:56 AM

(basically, don't write off the series if it launches with a low number. We need to wait 1 or 2 episodes more to see how it's going to play)

Same, I don't think people are gonna watch

*mazedsalv** 24-05-2017 10:34 AM

I think it will launch very poorly, but hold up well.

y.winter 24-05-2017 11:42 AM

Based on the slow, short-notice low-profile promotion, zero hype - I think it won't do well with ratings.

Mrmattybeck 24-05-2017 09:25 PM

1m love island could beat it

I want to say it's gonna be like 800k, but I'll be a realist and say 1.1m

I'm confident this will be the last civilian series

Denver 24-05-2017 10:12 PM

They have a contract for another

Jack_ 24-05-2017 10:18 PM

I thought the contract was signed until 2018? My mistake

Mind you, nobody knows what clauses are included in that contract

Jodie. 25-05-2017 06:21 AM

Officials will save the launch so much imo
