Can Big Brother be saved?

When Big Brother was scheduled to launch the same time as Love Island I did fear that the show would suffer due to the rise in Love Island's popularity.

My fears sadly have been realised with Love Island getting double the audience Big Brother gets in the same time slot. There have been rumours in the Star that Big Brother will relocate to Spain in an attempt to lure lost viewers.

I am saddened that Big Brother is only getting roughly 650-800,000 a night when in its heyday it got around 3-4 million.

The steady decline of Big Brother for me started from the Secrets and Lies series which was a resounding success for Channel 5. It had a good amount of drama and comedy and a good selection of housemates.

The proceeding series has relied on conflict and housemates which have already featured on other shows to carry each series and producers have failed miserably.

I do not think Big Brother has reached its end. I just think it has been terribly mismanaged by Endemol, Viacom and Channel 5.

I think given a new channel and a fresh approach and a hark back to the days of Channel 4 then viewers will come back.
