The Rationale for Rachel Rice

so we all lived through my Hira Shrine and Jem Justifation, and I always knew my next series to rewatch would be BB9 and that my next thread just HAD to be a Rachel Rationale. I wasn't sure when this would take place, but after BB18 and all the mystery revolving around Rachel (Raph we're still waiting to hear your side of things hun...x) I knew that this was the time. I think the forum opinion of her has improved since I've joined, but there are still a lot of naysayers throwing around stupid cliches like BORING and FENCE-SITTER and NOTHING LIKE HER ONE MINUTE LONG VT HOW DARE SHE and basically whatever the **** else bellends like Rex and Luke said. However, personallyme I think Rachel might have the most complete and well-rounded winner's journey of them all? And I shall use this thread to highlight it. Be warned though, bc 93 day series terrify me so this project will probably take many many months. I'll be very proud of myself if I finish before 2018.

I watched launch night last night and don't really have anything to say regarding Rachel. I'm sure I'll make up for it later with all the stupid focus on her VT :3

omg B congrats on 20,000 posts x

From memory rachel was pretty boring  But I think this was more a case of...the others were more entertaining and interesting, than it being her being boring. If that makes sense. A housemate like Rachel these days would be amazing tbh, with all the plastic fakes we have.

Oh my god, I didn't realise. Thank you

What a perfect thread to commemorate my 20,000th post.

^ congrats!

Didn't mind Rachel, she was a nice girl but just not a lot happened with her. I hated B-block (except Rex) so I suppose I lumped her in with that.

Sara though, I loved.

This may end up being my all time favourite thread.

Headie 15-08-2017 05:47 PM

Here for this, it may even encourage me to rewatch as well

The next one better be Vanessa McIntosh!

can we have a brief pitstop at the Bounty of Belinda Harris-Reid along the way? :fc:

My fave thing about Rachel's VT was when BB said "SHH!" and after a few seconds of silence she giggled "it"

Rachel was, is and will always be the best housemate and winner of BB. Period.

Day 1:
-Rachel is SO supportive of Mario and Stephanie. So nice to see someone who believes in TRUE LOVE :love::love:

reece(: 15-08-2017 11:03 PM

Extend this to Zezi please

Macie Lightfoot 16-08-2017 02:58 AM

Day 2:
-another low-key episode for Rachel bc the opening has been so dominated by The Wedding but she continues to be the defender of TRUE LOVE bc everyone's starting to get skeptical and she's telling everyone that they need to be on their best behavior on Sunday bc she's hoping it's still real  what a kind soul

Black Dagger 16-08-2017 05:37 AM

Gentle gem <33333

Ooooohhh.............me too!!!!

Sara was bloody GORGEOUS!!!!!! :love::love::love:

I wasn't a fan of Rachel. Didn't really hate her but just found her boring.
Me and my then girlfriend bumped into her in Cardiff a few months after the end of the series and (more my gf than me) had a brief chat with her. She was pleasant enough and, being me, i wasn't gonna' tell her i thought she was boring.

This is absolutely necessary.

y.winter 16-08-2017 06:49 AM

Reading it makes me want to watch BB9 again

Day 3:
-as everyone is super skeptical of the marriage and Alex is interrogating Steph...

Rachel: I'LL ASK YOU ONE QUESTION. IS IT GENUINE?
Stephanie: Yeah-
Rachel: I BELIEVE IT :)

Dominic 16-08-2017 07:03 AM

a thread :clap1:

Babayaro. 16-08-2017 09:34 AM

Yeah, I rewatched BB9 a few months ago and she's not boring at all.

DR Uncut:
-Sylvia said some bull**** about how Rachel is the most transparent because NOBODY'S THAT NICE and SHE WANTED TO BE A BRIDESMAID MORE THAN ANYONE like ok sis let's wait for ur mask to slip...it wont take long...x

Macie Lightfoot 17-08-2017 08:04 AM

Day 4:
-low-key episode for Rachel but she was adorable comforting Mikey when he was crying bc he thought he ruined the wedding by being blind  what a kind soul

I know it's ~off topic~ but my favourite Sylvia moment was when Alex and Mo were arguing in the bedroom and Sylvia just pops her head in mid-argument and yells "OH JUST GET IT ON ALREADY. GET. IT. ON." :joker:

Day 5:
-okay so I think Rachel's role in #Chipgate has already been pretty well-documented because that's usually one of the main examples fans use to reject the notion of her sitting on the fence, and duh because she was great in it. She wasn't afraid to speak up, she presented her thoughts calmly and rationally, and she encouraged Bex not to just leave and go for a fag right away but wait it for the right moment. It's refreshing to see someone with actual social intelligence on BBUK because that doesn't happen very often, and her DR afterwards where she was crying at the absurdity of the situation and Alex being an aggressive bully was sweet. Part of me was wondering how this would be perceived in 2017, with Rachel declaring the black girl an aggressive bully, but like... it's Alexandra De-Gale. She is aggressive and she does exhibit so many bullyish qualities.
