Jackie did cover a Sia song on her YouTube page so its a possibility. I am not familiar with the exact one you picked out but I will give it a listen. I want her to go a little bit harder for some actual rock songs though so will see what happens next week.

I think that Sia does suit more Rock vocalists quite well as something more "offbeat" that's why I do like Sia songs on singing shows as they can suit all sorts of singers.

For a more Rocked up number for Jackie Foster I'd say Just Tonight by The Pretty Reckless, or Uprising by Muse could be an interesting one for her.

Jackie - Every Little Thing she does is magic (sleeping at last version)

would be my song choice for her

I've not heard that version of the song, I will check it out later.

She said she is singing a classic 70s rock song. That will probably play well with the general voice fan base which is a little bit on the older side.

I like my 70's Rock songs as much as the next person, but I never like the Talent Show versions of the songs as they can come off as very dated and karaoke.

I hope that the show picks wisely for her.

The best eras for Rock Music imo are the 00's followed by the 90's.

Those eras of Rock Music needs to be done more often on Talent Shows imo.

My favorite era is the 90s too as that's when I was growing up. The very early 00s were okay but afterwards it was very meh. But I think the 70s and 80s play the best on the show because the average viewer is older on the voice.

The 10's has been poor I agree as alot of the songs all tend to be quite similar to each other in the charts.

And I get what you're saying, but I'm always of the belief that songs should be given that suit the singer which not every singer suits the styles of the 70's and 80's imo.

Tonight:
Britton Buchanan - Perfect (Ed Sheeran)
Brynn Cartelli - Yoü And I (Lady Gaga)
Christiana Danielle - Umbrella (Rihanna)
Jackie Foster - Love Reign O'er Me (The Who)
Jackie Verna - Strawberry Wine (Deana Carter)
Kaleb Lee - T-R-O-U-B-L-E (Travis Tritt)
Kyla Jade - Sweet Sweet Baby (Since You've Been Gone) [Aretha Franklin]
Pryor Baird - Night Moves (Bob Seger)
Rayshun LaMarr - Try A Little Tenderness (Otis Redding)
Sharane Calister - Hero (Mariah Carey)
Spensha Baker - Better Man (Little Big Town)

AarynGriesfan 30-04-2018 05:31 PM

If Jackie Foster nails that song she will easily make the top 10. But its a tough one so shes got her work cut out for her.

AarynGriesfan 01-05-2018 03:17 AM

Jackie Foster was the best performance of the night for sure. Her studio was better than her live performance but she still slayed tonight!

Mystic Mock 01-05-2018 04:10 PM

It was an interesting week, some of the singers have more charisma onstage but don't necessarily have the best vocal, and then we have some strong vocalists who don't have the charisma to back it up, and then we also had Christiana who had a bad arrangement to her song this week but again does have some talent.

Here is my rankings for this week.

1. Jackie Verna - Her vocal has got so much better since the play-offs, and I also like the fact that Adam picks her songs that actually suit her and not hinder her, and they're also not songs that seem to get done to death every year on the show. She has been my surprise package at the lives as I normally don't like singers like Jackie.

2. Jackie Foster - I've got to be honest I find her vocal a bit all over the place, but her vibe and the song itself was fantastic which gives her a leg up over singers that just bored the pants off me, or just didn't have the same strength with her song choice.

3. Pryor Baird - A much better week for him this week, I do wish that he had more of the Rock swagger that comes with the genre, but he is the strongest vocalist in the competition I feel and the song choice suited him much more than last week.

4. Rayshun Lamarr - The song choice whilst incredibly predictable for Rayshun, it did definitely suit him alot more than his song choice last week did, I also liked the manic performing style he had going on in the second half of his performance as it made him standout more to me, and it made his version of the song standout alot more to me to compared to other Talent Show versions of the song.

5. Britton Buchanan - Britton has a good voice (probably the next strongest after Pryor imo) but he just plays it so dull and safe that I can't quite get into his performances. Don't get me wrong I think that he deserves to go through this week, but he needs to do something more exciting going forward to get my support as his just playing the mundane winner journey at the moment.

6. Spensha Baker - Like Britton she has a good voice, but she's just delivering alot of dull performances at the moment, again she deserves to go through, but she does need to get more exciting going forward as yet again she just lacks exciting moments during her performance.

7. Brynn Cartelli - Again a decent voice but just doesn't seem to connect with her songs when I'm listening to her performances, maybe I'm being harsh on Brynn because she's just not my type of singer at all, but she feels quite lifeless to me.

8. Kaleb Lee - I like the fact that Kaleb did something more upbeat this week, but I did struggle to understand what he was singing at points, and he didn't have the energetic attitude that you're suppose to have during a song like the one he sung, I'd give him another chance next week to see if he gets more exciting, but time is running out for him at this point as he isn't the best singer in the competition imo to get away with a lackluster persona.

9. Christiana Danielle - There's talent there with Christiana, but her arrangement of that song was just all wrong and I do feel was not the right direction to take her down, she was definitely better last week.

10. Sharane Callister - She had a very cliched Mariah Carey song to sing and she didn't even sing it well imo. Sharane should be concerned this week as she already had one of the smaller fanbases anyway and this performances didn't really do anything to push her high up the pecking order I feel.

11. Kyla Jade - This performance was just purely disgraceful to Music, it was just screaming, screaming, and more screaming, how she is one of the most popular singers in this competition is beyond me when she does performances like this.

I think Jackie Verna was the biggest surprise performance this week. I never paid much attention to her but she had a real good performance this week. Adam picked the perfect song for her. On the contrary Kelly did the exact opposite for Brynn. I think Brynn is a good singer but she needs the slower songs not all these upbeat songs that Kelly herself likes to cover. If Brynn had Adam or even Blake as her coach I think I woumd like her performances a lot better.

Jackie Verna has shocked me too considering she was the one I questioned the most at even making the top 12.:joker:

And yeah Brynn is a good singer at what she does, she just needs to push herself more.

Tbh if I was picking the songs for next weeks top 10 then this is what I'd give them all assuming that said contestant gets to the top 10.

It would be more curveball song choices tbh that they've got to "make their own" just to make the performances more exciting as some of these singers are getting away with playing it safe.

Jackie Verna - California King Bed by Rihanna
Jackie Foster - One Of Those Nights by Juicy J
Pryor Baird - Incomplete by Backstreet Boys
Rayshun Lamarr - Chandelier by Sia
Britton Buchanan - Crawling by Linkin Park
Spensha Baker - Decode by Paramore
Brynn Cartelli - Can't Feel My Face by The Weeknd
Kaleb Lee - Underneath Your Clothes by Shakira
Christiana Danielle - Eternal Flame by The Bangles
Sharane Callister - I'm Not Afraid by Eminem
Kyla Jade - Budapest by George Ezra

I know that one of them would have to get eliminated first, but whoever got to the top 10 I'd love to see them try out these song choices that I would give them, I reckon that it would show some interesting results.

I have been trying to give Jackie Foster a Linkin Park song all season so it would be kinda annoying to hear Britton sing one. :joker:

Jackie Foster already does more risky Rock song choices anyway to push herself so Linkin Park would be safe for her.:joker:

My opinion of this week's top 10 performances (for anyone that's interested anyway)

1. Jackie Foster - The song suited her much more than what I tend to find they normally give Jackie to sing, I'll always give credit to Jackie Foster aswell in that in every performance that she has done I have remembered them really well and this one does standout quite alot and actually was her most flawless performance so far imo.

2. Kyla Jade - I never thought that I'd put Kyla at number 2 but the song choice was very good to pick for her (if not slightly obvious) but it was definitely better from Kyla than what I've seen off her in any of the other rounds.

3. Brynn Cartelli - Again a little safe compared to the more challenging Coldplay songs she could've picked for herself, but I really enjoyed the second half of the performance when the Guitar playing from one of the background guys came in, and her vocal is always on point.

4. Spensha Baker - Definitely her best performance to date imo, I still think she suffers from being slightly dull, but the song choice was better for her this week.

5. Jackie Verna - She got off to a slow start imo, but she definitely got better in the second half of the performance, it's just for me it wasn't Verna's best round.

6. Kaleb Lee - Kaleb as usual delivered a decent vocal, however he does still have the problem of coming off as Karaoke and it hinders his performances in my view.

7. Christiana Danielle - I'll give Christiana credit she stoodout compared to everybody else this week in terms of what she was going for, but personally I just couldn't get into it, she still hasn't topped her Say Something performance imo.

8. Pryor Baird - His playing it completely safe at this point and it wasn't as good as last week for him so that knocks him back alot imo, the only thing saving him for me at this point is his really good vocal.

9. Britton Buchanan - I just feel bored everytime that I listen to one of Britton's performances, there's no doubt that there's talent there, but he needs to have a more exciting performance in the future.

10. Rayshun Lamarr - He got a bit too shouty for my tastes, it's ashame as he does have more stage presence than some of the others in the competition.

Clearly I'm in the minority on these two.:joker:

MOR Rock tramples quality Rock on singing shows still I see.

Jackie Foster was amazing last night! I will never not love her performances! listened to it repeatedly on apple music!

Jackie Verna version of Love Triangle was high key better than RaeLynn version.

Brynn had a pretty good night as well.

idk if you watch american idol as well, but Lionel Richie is showing to be a pure, sweet and honest Judge and also Katy Perry and Luke Bryan are really good as judges
