12 years on...your thoughts on BB6

I'm making this thread, because I'm almost done with my 2 1/2 month long re-watch of BB6...I'm just onto Craig's eviction btw, and only need one highlight show (Day 76) till the final to complete.
Especially, if you have watched the series when it aired, how have your opinions changed, when comparing them from then, and now...
Pls state your thoughts everybody...

P.S. I'm gonna be watching CBB3 or CBB6 next, care to join me?

An amazing series with plenty of dark and light moments. It could get quite sinister but the fantastic housemates manged to make it comedic at the same time. Some amazing housemates feature and it was overall executed really well!

It's one of the best series. I think I quite underestimated it when I first watched it about five years ago, because it was only the 3rd series I'd watched at the time. If I'd rewatch it now, after watching almost all of BBUK - I think I would love and value it even more.
Craig was terrible and I was over the moon when he didn't make it to the final (I thought it was going to be a final of 5, didn't know 4-way final existed, so when this unexpected extra eviction saw him go just before the final it was terrific).

I mean he was entertaining during the first two weeks. During his "Team Britney" phase with Vanessa and Lesley. As well when he was with Saskia, Maxwell and Anthony. The moment when Maxwell stepped out of the house, and when he became so OBSESSED with Anthony as if he relied on him to live! Eventually the daily arguments between the pair, and Craig's mood swings pissed the sh!t out of me, so I liked him lesser as the episodes progressed. Though Miss Russia, and Drunk Anthony were some of Craig's highlights post Day 43...honestly such a good series, I don't think BB would ever match the standard of this series ever again tbh!

Cal. 02-12-2017 09:35 AM

Near the beginning of the series when he was telling Vanessa he hates sex and then towards the end when he was like 'I ****ing love sex I can't get enough of it I'm sex mad' :laugh2: :laugh2:

Cal. 02-12-2017 09:36 AM

The fact Anthony won because Makosi and Craig were absolute psychopaths and put him through hell basically for the latter half of the series

what locking in a house with lots of sexual tension for 76 days does to you...

Eugene was ROBBED. I think taking the money decreased his popularity, but he had a good reason behind that...
Kinga would have went instead of Craig in the surprise eviction, had her wine bottle incident not have happened...

RileyH 02-12-2017 10:55 AM

Anthony was a deserving winner because I liked him

RileyH 02-12-2017 10:56 AM

But ultimately Saskia was the best

Probably the best BB that Channel 4 did, I liked 5 and that stills holds up thanks to threesome of Jason, Victor and Ahmed, their antics always put a smile on my face. BB7 is great up to its mid point. BB3 doesn't quite hold up as well as those two but is still good.

BB6 is the Channel 4's crowning Glory of their run with the show. It's aged better then the rest and has more rewatch ability then the other ones I liked. I loved that it had a bit of nasty and bitchy feel to it, that it didn't have a nice but dull loveable hero to cheer for, Eugene would have been that if he was in from the start. He would have run away as the shows winner, have no doubt in my mind.

I loved Derek, his snobbish and his quick wit which just made me laugh so much. The near enough sexual harassment of Craig on Anthony was awkward but funny stuff. Makosi just blowing her chances after been a favourite to win. Science and Roberto rubbing each up the wrong way. The Downfall of Saskia and her pet Maxwell (another guy who was a early favourite) was a joyous occasion as both thought they were untouchable after been cheered by the crowd one week, got big headed and crumbled a week or two later. I did love that eviction that was face to face one week, that was awkward stuff.

Saying that it did have some bad stuff, Orlaith involvement she bought in the "housemate using the show for her own career thing", losing Science and Kemal cause of her and then her leaving to make sure she get her photoshoots in by the time the papers were out on the Sunday.

The treatment of Sam, she didn't help matters by ignoring the rest of house, been a bit of a bitch to everyone and wanting the attention of Anthony and Maxwell who then pushed her aside for Saskia. Then that left Sam all alone, with Derek been a bit nasty to her. Sam shouldn't have been in that house BB5 or 7 would have suited her more.

But overall it's a fantastic BB and it's one I would recommend over any other. But if you love having a good guy or girl to cheer on avoid it.

The worst thing about BB6 for me apart from Makosi not winning

One of the best, but something has always been missing for me

If Orlaith went over Science, things would've panned out so much better. He would've went over Kemal when they would inevitably be the next head-to-head, and that would've fit so much better given their love/hate dynamic. Then you'd probably get a Kemal & Derek head-to-head with Kemal probably still going due to his Makosi fixation. And then Derek would've lasted all the way to the final week. The only thing is it means Kinga doesn't re-enter because Orlaith would simply be evicted, but it's a small price to pay to extend the time of three superior housemates.

It was the first time you saw a housemate, who clearly never watched a episode of BB who used the show to boost her own career and left in time to get her tits out for the Sunday papers, it was so obvious. Sadly a lot of Glamour models followed her lead in using BB as a casting call.

The fact people voted out Kemal and Science over her makes it ten times worse, it did stop BB 6 for a while in its tracks.

Makosi was at fault for her own downfall sadly, it was great TV. she had the win in the bag all she had to do was play it safe then she blows it all away with whole Anthony and Pregnancy thing lol.

My brother said the same thing, he always says that the show didn't have someone to root for. But that's what I love about it that everyone was flawed and wore their nastiness on their sleeves and didn't hide it.

What do you think was missing Reece?

Eddie. 11-12-2017 11:45 PM

Orlaith not getting evicted on Days 57 or 64 was messed up, especially since the votes were very close. Them again, I have to agree, had she been evicted, we wouldn't have gotten our Kinga!

The Voting Public do have some clanger moments, instead of thinking of the enjoyment of the show. They will quickly get rid of the more interesting HM's and then complain for weeks that the show has gone down hill

I think it rattles me more cause she was using the show for her own gain, many will disagree with me but Orlaith is really the first HM that did BB more for her profile then the love of the show. If you go back and watch her, she came across to me like she never watched a episode of the show. Plus she left on The Saturday I think and never day she had breasts out in the Sunday paper, then she was non stop in photo shoots in warm climates for the next few months lol.

On rewatch 12 years later:

I have a lot more respect for Kamal now. I love how articulate he is and I think he's highly intelligent. Also his brilliant lines to Max and Saskia that night when Max threw the water over him!!

I have a lot less respect for Derek. He's mean, and a bully. He thinks because he says everything in a posh voice with an air of intelligence that he's some great observer and judge of of the others. He's not. He picks his favourites and then bitches about everyone else. Although I don't think he's a bad guy I think he's just a lot less superior than he thinks he is. A lot of the other housemates are more honest about their flaws... like someone said above they wear them on their sleeves.

I also have a lot more respect for Science and it kind of breaks my heart that he doesn't really fit in with any of the cliques that form. He's kind of an outsider. But having said that, the guy does himself no favours. If he'd just shut up and listen and not shout over everyone the second they start talking to him, people might want him around more and invite them into their circles. He's just super-defensive. I hope he's got over that now.

Orlaith is horrible - really really horrible and should never have went into the house. It should have been Kinga all along. I will admit I get a little bit of sick pleasure seeing her being tormented by Science because she only went in for exposure so she could get her magazine shoots... she moaned from the second she went in, spent all her time complaining that she wanted to go, at the expense of people like Kinga (and thousands of others) who would have loved to go into that house half way through. She had an ugly ugly personality in my opinion so yeah, she deserves the "torture" she had to endure.

One opinion that hasn't changed is that I feel Makosi is unfairly berated. She was an amazing housemate up until that "mistake". She took it too far with the lie about Anthony but I don't think she deserved the hate she got.

Craig is very very funny when he's not having a meltdown. Should have been given some psychological help or someone to speak to.
