An unpopular opinion ...
This isnt the unpopular opinion, but the context. I'll get to the opinion later. Stephen Bear was an atrocious person who enjoyed seeing other people riled up and angry. He enjoyed intimidating people. And when I saw him on Celebs Go Dating he enjoyed standing up young girls before a date and telling the waiter to let them know he had to leave because he left the chicken in the oven, before running out the back door.
Now here is the unpopular opinion. It took me a very long time to reach this conclusion due to how much I despise the creature - but Stephen Bear was actually a good housemate (:worry:). For the little money he was payed, he managed to create Drama and entertainment (if you can call it that) in almost every single Highlights Show, and got the nation talking. Still doesn't change how much I hated him, but he was a good housemate. Now whilst I'm here and have your attention, a question. Would Stephen Bear have received as much hate as he did on TiBB if he was female? Because I certainly think he would have had a few more fans on her if he was female. And with that; discuss. |
he wasn’t a good housemate though bc that entire series revolved around him acting like an absolute dickhead and it got really exhausting really quickly
|
No he absolutely wouldn't, I certainly wouldn't approve of liking a woman who enjoys staring people down and laughing at their misfortune or screaming in their face or overusing tired and awful phrases to goad people, or how they'd do horribly harmful childlike humor to transparently appeal to the lowest common denominator, not to mention painfully cringe, unfunny and boring in repeated bullying for no reason. And just because you 'provide talking points' shouldn't automatically mean you're a great housemate. You being a great housemate is what makes you a great housemate. Getting people talking shouldn't be the reason. I hate the whole theory that 'If it was a female TiBB would be loving them' because there's no actual evidence or substance behind it. When you're this level of vile, this level of intolerable aggression, this level of anti-social disdain towards everyone you're living with, gender is irrelevant

No, that's stupid
He wasn't a good housemate and deserved less than what he got. Utter cunt |
Bear was an amazing housemate  I genuinely cannot understand how anyone can think differently on this. Though I know they do...just cannot get in that mindset

What Scott, Epic, and RileyH said
My opinions can never be as well articulated or better put across as Epic's ranking of him did |

I've had to look behind him as a person for his, scrap it, and take him as a housemate. - provided talking points - created many different storylines; the clique of Marnie, Lewis and Bear, Renee and their conflict, Saira and their conflict, Heavy D and their on-off friendship, Chloe and their relationship - was a prominent character in every Highlights Show - entertained despite the size of the paycheck Now if you removed names from that and blanked Bear from your mind, that would sum up a great housemate. |
nothing entertaining about bear
he was an awful housemate |
He was a brilliant housemate , and very funny

Bear was missing a few vital ingredients for Tibb to like him,no T&A, some don't seem to like men they want them out before they get in,lol |

Also, being a prominent character in a highlights show doesn't make him 'good'. He overshadowed many other characters, and while that would be somewhat bearable if he made for good television, he didn't, so it's not exactly a good point. Quote:

He made me actually switch off the show and I never watched the remainder of the series.
So a good housemate he was not as he actually made me switch off. |

I can't see how 'providing talking points' makes you a good housemate. If we're going by that logic, you may as well call Jack Tweed, Danielle Lloyd, and Jo O'Meara 'good housemates' simply for them providing talking points with CBB5. As I've echoed already what I care about is the behavior, and how it ruined thirty hours of television. And the gender thing you mentioned actually really annoys me because it's simply a consistently untrue theory. Take Pete Burns for example, who was incredibly hurtful when he wanted to be and highly insultive. But he's hailed as a legend or icon like Kim is because of the sharp wit in how he talks, his words, his clever actions, etc. and that's one of the many reasons people liked her as well. There's no wit behind what this disgusting goblin monster called 'Bear' did. He's a ****ing scoundrel and 'providing talking points' is irrelevant when you're a human ****. |

I disliked the girl who spat in his food far more. Bear didn't stoop to anything as digusting as that.
