I don't like Dapper's character BUT
Not a fan of him, but Dapper is a CHARACTER.
If Sacha Baron Cohen went in, would he get this much stick? "If you are both laughing it's not rape", calling black people "chocolate face", " I arrived in America's airport with clothings, US dollars, and a jar of gypsy tears to protect me from AIDS" etc... that's three of like a thousand comments made in Ali G, Borat and Bruno. Those are characters. Sacha is not like that. But I wonder if he would be hated? I doubt it, those films were loved. We have found that these types of people have an audience, Jim Davidson, Bernard Manning and Frankie Boyle being three of them. Borat made $261m in Box Office and hundreds of million on DVD... should all those watching be disgusted with themselves? The only problem is that a lot of people were under the impression that Dapper was actually real, and Daniel was liek that too... the wider public know Sacha is different to his characters, same with Leigh Francis regarding Keith Lemon. I personally never really liked Sacha's stuff but i still watch Keith. |
I don’t believe he was a character
It was a way for him to excuse his actions and since he’s essentially been scrapped, he’s probably matured |
So far he seems perfectly fine.

It’d be like those people who “touch hands of strangers in public” getting into trouble and then trying to claim is was all a character they’d made up.

I give him the benefit of doubt.
It looks like he has good intentions. |
Where was the character? He doesn't dress or look different as himself to Dapper Laughs. Just a stage name for him to get away with stuff and blame it on the "character"

If it was all in character and in jest then his career wouldn’t have taken a nose dive. He told a very poor & disgusting joke (which wasn’t even funny).

Either way, I know Daniel is a real person as i have met him, and in the (only) 15 mins i was around, he was far from sexist and this was back in 2010 (my friend managed him). He could have faked being nice, but he was there to promote himself. |
I still can't stand his character. But he seemed OK as Daniel.
|
Ive never heard of him,so will judge him on how he is in the house

I fully understand that he isn’t running around like Dapper being rude 24/7, but I don’t think that excuses his behaviour or attitude |
Sacha Baron Cohen's characters are parody's when you watch his movies you're laughing at his characters while dapper laughs is presented more as a relatable lads lad also before the drama he never really made any attempt distinguish himself from his character.
|
So far he has been lovely so lets just judge as we find.
|
Don't know of any details of his past but he came across kinda sleazy to me in the VT & intro interview.
But on a related note to this thread, Borat & The Dictator are absolutely hilarious movies. :clap1: And I'd probably stan Sacha in the BB house. |
josy: you have received an infraction for telling a forum member to drown in quicksand
me: that was my character!!! |
