Am no fan of Grantham but his crime was a long time ago, he served his sentence and hasn't reoffended.

No Nicky, the actor himself was sent to prison for murder many years ago too

[“Leslie remains poorly and is being taken care of by medical staff” ]

What is it
Cancer of some type?

Not nice for a Top Actor
who has a real criminal history.

Sad Day
unless he is on Sustainable meds etc.

On 3 December 1966, Grantham attempted to rob a taxi driver, Felix Reese, in Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, West Germany. A struggle between Grantham and the driver followed, and Reese died from a gunshot wound to the head.[5][6][7] In his statement to the police following his arrest, Grantham said that he did not know the gun was loaded and it had gone off during the struggle, which would have resulted in a conviction for manslaughter if a jury believed this version of events. However, at his trial in 1967 he was subsequently convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment. Although he had committed the murder in West Germany, he served the entirety of his imprisonment in various British prisons. This was because soldiers and officers convicted of any criminal offence that warrants a sentence of over two years are automatically transferred to Her Majesty's Prison Service, since they are also automatically dishonourably discharged.

Grantham was released in 1977, having served 10 years. While he was in Leyhill Prison, he acted in several plays for inmates and members of the public, and edited the prison newspaper. He was encouraged to get more involved in acting professionally by Labour Party politician T. Dan Smith, who had also been an inmate at Leyhill in the mid 1970s. He also met actress Louise Jameson during her visit to Leyhill in the mid-1970s; she had also encouraged him to take up acting and he became good friends with her.
Always found it weird that he was allowed to become so famous and celebrated...

Mystic Mock 12-06-2018 02:07 PM

Hopefully he ends up being okay.

I'm not gonna judge him on his past as I really don't know enough about the case bar a basic summary on Wikipedia.

It's because the UK is big on rehabilitation to it's very core, including convicted criminals being able to get top jobs.

If it stops them re-offending when they come out of Prison then I don't mind.

Oh wow, I never knew this, how the **** does someone get out of prison after 10 years when they get a Life sentence??? That's so insulting to that poor man he killed, just trying to earn a living.

10 years is piss poor for murder and I'd be disgusted if I were that poor taxi drivers families

bitontheslide 12-06-2018 06:36 PM

Sorry, i don't subscribe to the ... oh it was a long time ago ... he served his sentence dialog. He was found guilty of murdering someone, and there isn't any way back from that in my book

GoldHeart 12-06-2018 10:50 PM

It was briefly mentioned on the morning show ,poor guy hope he gets better but sounds serious . I was even recently thinking about a funny EE episode where him & his son Dennis set Phil up lol .
