First time a multi-sport European Champs has been done - trying to emulate the Olympic/Commonwealth format I think. Should be quite interesting to watch! Shame that the Athletics is in Berlin though, as all the other sports are in Glasgow

Looking forward to discussing it in this thread with anyone else who's watching!

Jack_ 24-07-2018 10:51 PM

Oh wow I remember hearing about this about a year ago and I'd totally forgotten it was happening. Genuinely thought that was it this year for multi-sport/"big" sporting events (and we've been spoiled already)

Glad the BBC are going all out for it, even if it is just a Europeans  quite excited now!

Black Dagger 24-07-2018 11:08 PM

I will lap anything up if it's multi event. Will tide me over until the Olympics.

Ross. 25-07-2018 12:31 AM

If they haven’t reinstated Helen Skelton then I’m rioting at the BBC

Headie 02-08-2018 08:48 PM

Starts tomorrow!

Denver 02-08-2018 08:56 PM

Only her for the swimming and the disabled

I love him.

Headie 04-08-2018 05:18 PM

I need the Athletics to start, it's been too aquatics-heavy so far

Jack_ 04-08-2018 05:23 PM

jfc @ 57.00, he almost completed Project 56 there and then :joker: thought that was an aim for Tokyo, truly extraordinary

Jack_ 04-08-2018 05:24 PM

mess @ some of the completely empty stands in Berlin

Jack_ 06-08-2018 03:26 PM

I really like the graphics being used across the sports at this event :clap1:

Twosugars 06-08-2018 03:48 PM

waiting for athletics and diving

Headie 06-08-2018 03:49 PM

^ Athletics is on the red button now, although it's just heats

Dai Greene pulled out of the 400m Hurdles, only it's a pisstake the amount of times he's withdrawn from stuff through injury, I get that he's been out of action for about 5 years due to surgeries and injuries but it's not like he's getting any younger - all these preservation tactics are just prolonging inevitable retirement

Twosugars 06-08-2018 03:50 PM

Dai has been very unlucky over the years

Tbf it's only heats, plus most of the top ranked athletes have byes to the semis due to some new rule that got introduced two years ago where the Top 12 ranked athletes all advance to semis immediately.

Oh fair, I thought they only did heats in morning seasons

That makes sense now
