CBB/BB has been axed after 7 years on CH5

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbi...-final-series/

CELEBRITY Big Brother has been axed after seven years on Channel 5.

Bosses have reported decided to end the show after the upcoming series over falling ratings.

A source told the Daily Star Sunday: "After months of discussions it has been decided to axe Celebrity Big Brother. Ratings have dropped for the past few series so it isn’t worth the hefty price tag."

Earlier this year Channel 5 began taking pitches for shows to replace the once hugely popular reality TV show.

Industry magazine Broadcast reports that if Big Brother and its celebrity version were to be cut – Channel 5 would be left with more than 110 hours of primetime TV to fill.

There is still an existing deal in place, which will ensure Big Brother this summer, followed by the celebrity version.

Seemed inevitable

We had to get confirmation either way before this series started, would've been a bit of a howl (well, not really) if a week after the civilian final they'd just gone 'yeah we're not coming back so bye'

RIP ha

Oops

Not surprised. There wasn’t really any life left in it and I’d rather see it go now (when it’s already a bit of a state) than carry on getting worse and worse.

Well well well.

Headie 29-07-2018 12:25 AM

Annoys me how they stopped on 19 instead of 20 tho

Like how Britain's Next Top Model stopped on 9 before it was revived

It was long overdue tho, it needs to be off air for at least a decade before any talk of a revival occurs IMO!

Someone will take it. A bit franchise like this which still airs in like 80 countries won't just disappear.

Shaun 29-07-2018 12:26 AM

ThisIsDragRace incoming?

Eddie. 29-07-2018 12:27 AM

Oh no.

Well there’s still North American BB so I’m fine...

Yep, LI had a 9 year break and look at it now.

Are we just gonna pretend they'd axe CBB and not BB?

Shocking? No
For the best? Definitely
Sad? Sorta

Reading this made my heart drop a little </3 yeah it's an overbeaten horse but it's such a shame we're finding out it was axed just mere months before the final series. Like it's gonna be such a non-event

Why would they keep the one that rates the lowest?

*weeks.

And i think it'll be better knowing it's ending, they can promote in such a way like they did with BB11? Increase in viewers just like BB11 too,

Who knows

It rates lowest but CBB is probably 10x more money to run for 4 weeks as opposed to BB's 8 weeks due to around £1m-£2m for HMs.

Reportedly they are paying half a million to Stormy Daniels.... i mean perhaps it's a good idea to ditch CBB with all those stupid decisions. £500k!! bloody joking

But the money that is wanted to renew it will just be a waste as they will never make it back in ad revenue

I think we are underrestimating how much cash C5 have. Lets not pretend they are a poor homeless little channel. Thry have too much, it's reflected in their ridiculous fees for HMs.

I do believe the article and think BOTH will be cancelled, but it;s odd they didn't say "Big Brother", if it was both, they would have just said "Big Brother". But they said CBB, which is what throws me off/

MB. 29-07-2018 12:45 AM

I doubt BB's really been axed, she's probably just in a secret house next door

Samm 29-07-2018 12:58 AM

goodbye to ha she's had a good run

Black Dagger 29-07-2018 01:00 AM

Sadly inevitable. Been the reality show I grew up on.

Drew. 29-07-2018 01:03 AM

It's for the best really. It is sad though given that this is more or less guaranteed to be the end of it now, its been fun.

They said CBB for click bait and to be seen, because CBB is what’s coming up and what everyone’s talking about

supertv247 29-07-2018 01:14 AM

anyway this is like the 3rd (?) article Ed has release since January to say BB has been axed so we shall wait and see

If true, it is quite sad as they’ve showed that the effort could be made to improve the show and bring it back to its glorious self (even though they’re yet to do so enough for impact) but I doubt it’ll go anywhere if not just to another channel

My bet is they’ve axed summer CBB (as this article technically states) but kept the other 2 series per year for a new contract

Amy Jade 29-07-2018 01:16 AM

Not shocked but channel 5 will truly be a station to ignore with BB gone unless you enjoy endless 'cant pay for your telly we will humiliate you' and clips off youtube with unfunny commentary over it.

StevenS 29-07-2018 01:19 AM

I don't believe it. The Sun also said BOTS was axed and replaced with Little Brother. I won't believe it until an official announcement.

Withano 29-07-2018 01:23 AM

Why am i the only one that’s upset.

This tbh. Didn't the sun already report it being axed and it turned out to be false?
