Good on her. whats the reason for the delay anyway?
|
The restrictions are a sticking plaster on a burst water main anyway. They only apply to in shop gaming machines, you will still be able to play all of the same games online, which younger people (who are the ones who have addiction problems with these games) are starting to do more and more. Shutting the stable door when the horse is long gone over the hills... Everyone has an FOBT in their pocket.

if an MP is going to resign over a cause, you would think it would be over something a bit more important

£50+ a spin roulette is played by fellas in suits who can drop £1000, or win £1000 and walk out with a shrug. They're bored, have money to burn, and don't give a ****. They're sticking £300 on a 20 second dog race as well and don't care about that either. They'll just put their roulette money on more dogs. Or "virtual horses" which is, tbqfh, just bloody roulette with a cartoon horse on it. £2 slots is the one that drags in poor sods who can't afford to lose the money they're sticking in, but have won £200 for their tenner once or twice and now believe its "only a matter of time" until they win big again, so they play every day. Short spin time of a few seconds, flashing lights, pretty pictures, lightning fast risk-reward cycle... It's a pavlovian nightmare . We're legally only allowed 4 machines in shop. All 4 are constantly spinning slots 90% of the time. Maybe it's only a matter of time until the gambling opponents catch on to this and pursue a ban, but things will already have moved on. Roulette was a HUGE problem 5 years ago when these campaigns started... It's only just come to anything, and it's about 18 months too late. |
