Entire O2 network is down this morning

Quote:

O2’s data network is down across the UK this morning, the mobile operator said.

O2 said it is investigating reports of issues when using 3G or 4G data, adding that “voice calls are working OK”.

“We apologise for any inconvenience,” the firm said, after problems were first reported at around 5.30am.

Downdetector, a website that tracks digital outages, said 1,662 complaints had been made before 7am, with the outages affecting London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds and many other towns and cities.

Angry users took to Twitter to look for answers or simply vent their anger.

O2 directed users to a status checker to see whether their local network was affected, but the system didn’t appear to be working properly, and was unable to pin point postcode locations or even to display results for ‘London’.

Data is down for everyone, O2 claims it's just data but voice and texts not working for (most, it seems?) people either.

I reckon this will cripple them permanently tbh, they're going to lose an absolute tonne of customers :umm2:. It's been off for 5+ hours and reports of community nurses not being able to contact their vulnerable patients, self employed people losing business, etc etc.

Just goes to show how reliant we are on being always in contact these days.

Also my wife is on O2 and she's down in London today :bawling:.

Oddly enough I sent a text this morning just after 7:00 am and was told "not delivered" yet about five minutes later I got a reply to my text .... my iphone says the first text wasn't delivered though .

Yeah my service has only just come back on my phone, thankfully I’ve only been awake for an hour so it hasn’t effected me

Liam- 06-12-2018 08:35 AM

And it’s gone again

arista 06-12-2018 08:55 AM

O2 and its mobile network equipment supplier Ericsson have issued a joint apology to the millions of customers hit by disruption to its data services.

O2 chief executive Mark Evans said the firm would work with Ericsson through the night to resolve the problems.

Mr Evans said Ericsson had given assurances that a full service would be restored by Friday morning.

Nope! It's an unprecedented outage tbh... This will cost them an absolute fortune.

All back up for me.

People saying to me today "what do you expect with o2 it's sooo outdated!" But I've literally never had an issue before?

They are saying some may be back
at 3AM.

Their 3rd party Ericsson.
are to blame.

Some Stores lost big money
due to lack of Internet feed

This went all the way to China and Japan
as well.

The thing is, when networks have problems it's usually for a couple of hours at the absolute most... this was a full 24 hours of no data for all, ZERO signal of any kind for many, with some people still having issues.

It may well not be O2's fault but it will still hit them VERY hard... most people with contracts ending in the next couple of months anyway are likely to consider switching provider. Also, EE and Three have been extremely reliable for several years in terms of uptime and signal quality. Vodaphone are trash but everyone already knows that :joker:.

Still no calls or texting this is now a bloody joke.

Marsh. 07-12-2018 05:05 PM

My phone has been fine for a full 24 hours now.

 The issue is fixed now, try restarting your phone.

LeatherTrumpet 07-12-2018 06:34 PM

This whole incident has made me, for the first time ever, be glad that I'm on Virgin Media.

Virgin runs on EE who are pretty reliable although lowkey assholes :joker:.

I've been with Three for nearly 4 years now and they've been brilliant, which is surprising as they used to be the worst :umm2:. I got 4g a good 6 months earlier than the other networks around here and have had great signal up and down the UK.

I feel like I'm advertising for them now :suspect:.

And yet, this has never happened before.

Liam- 07-12-2018 07:01 PM

All of my services have been back all day, I’ve been with them for about 5 years now and this is the only time anything like this has ever happened
