No, and agree with what the others said, liking is more for facebook

Ramsay 20-12-2018 01:20 PM

Loads of other forums have it and they're better off with it

seen it in action on other forums and it works, boosts involvement etc

RileyH 20-12-2018 02:23 PM

something being added to the forum?

Matthew. 20-12-2018 02:41 PM

nah, can’t see it doing any good, also it would turn into a popularity contest too

Maybe a full ratings system could be fun, like on a forum which shan't be named:

Smithy 11-03-2019 09:15 PM

There used to be karma and it didn’t work well

I feel like a like button would just reduce people posting bc they just like a post instead of contributing?

RileyH 11-03-2019 09:17 PM

easier than quoting a post with .

Alf 11-03-2019 09:19 PM

If you have a like button. then you have to have a hate button. It's democratic.

Matthew. 11-03-2019 09:19 PM

A bad idea tbh

I would like a hate button :hee:

Mokka 11-03-2019 09:22 PM

It's actually a win for the mods... a post that gets gets quoted 10 times with clap emojis and what not... that they then need to delete... saves time to just delete the one instead of the 11

LeatherTrumpet 11-03-2019 09:23 PM

This isn't a kids site

reece(: 11-03-2019 09:24 PM

It's what she deserves

Most modern forums nowadays have these features

Is that against the rules, or do they do it to reduce clutter? A fair mount of forums have a rule that responding with just emojis/gifs/single words in "serious" sections result in some form of infraction.

Alf 11-03-2019 09:27 PM

It's for attention seeking, ego maniacs.

Yeah! Let's have one.

I think it is maybe against the core rules on here... but they dont enforce it unless the original post is being deleted for another reason

parmnion 11-03-2019 09:35 PM

No.. good idea. But selfishly I would have to say no.

To begin with it may slow the forum where people just like something rather than reply to it...then you would get the women having to like it, AND reply..then the likes of me who have already liked it but end up posting and hating it.....

Far to transparent and tacky for my liking...no thank you JAMES.

Josy 13-03-2019 09:19 PM

I saw a forum lately and it had a reaction button, kinda like on fb where you click on the like button and a row of reactions pops up, that could be pretty cool

Josy 14-03-2019 10:02 PM

James is going to check this out and see what if anything can be added once the vbulletin version is updated

Of course, don't see why you couldn't.

I am indifferent on this like button thing, like usual. But the karma system was basically a like button and that went a bit tits up. But I guess this was years ago, and there might not be people abusing it now.

Shaun 15-03-2019 10:27 AM

I think the difference between this feature and karma was that "Karma" was a once-per-hour thing that could be altered regardless of post. I know it was commonplace for people to just perpetually plus or minus people every hour for being friends / annoying. I think this would be much more post-based and - if Josy / Oliver's suggestion of a react button is to be believed - a lot more spontaneous and relevant to the posts themselves. I can't see anyone really letting 15 likes on a TiBB post go to their head

Edit: Plus I think Karma was a literal thing that you could not hide from your profile with every post (unless you opted to turn it off): it would show up a thumbs-up or thumbs-down for every 10 plus/minus votes right underneath your avatar. Which obviously was the cause of the problem, because there'd be very obvious outcasts with "-150 karma" and 15 emoji under their name just hitting the point home that nobody bloody likes them :p

Vicky. 15-03-2019 10:35 AM

Hmm yeah good points.

As I said, not arsed either way anyway

maybe i just have to adapt to these new forum changes

Toy Soldier 06-04-2019 08:13 PM

Anonymous reactions could be fun. Like buttons with "[username] likes this", from experience, end up being used to be snidey and ganghanded and IMO would definitely go that way here :umm2:

Like an upvote system? So you can see the post has for example 86 upvotes, but you can't see who's behind them?

That would work I guess
