Frenkie will move in the summer to Barcelona, but already signed his contract there yesterday


If the deal goes ahead it would make De Jong, who made his international debut last August, the most expensive Dutch player in history, surpassing Virgil van Dijk’s €84 million transfer from Southampton to Liverpool a year ago.De Jong had been widely expected to move to Paris for €75 million, but the Telegraaf and Spanish media reported late on Tuesday that PSG had dropped out of the race. Juventus and Manchester City were also rumoured to be chasing his signature.

De Jong signed for Ajax in 2015 from Willem II and rapidly evolved into a key component of the club’s revival under Erik ten Hag, as a left-sided or defensive midfielder.

In December Ajax reached the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time since 2006.De Jong’s rapidly rising status belies the fact he has made just 65 appearances for the first team.

He has five international caps, having made his debut as a substitute in a friendly match against Peru in August.

He was ranked 92nd in The Guardian’s most recent list of the 100 best footballers in the world.

i never said i did like him or anything, i find him and matthijs de ligt very much overrated from us dutch


whereas Virgil Van Dijk is a excellent defender or a Wijnaldum who is also a good midfielder (i prefer Gini over Frenkie myself in midfield honestly)

have you ever seen him play at a stadium or train?

i've seen matches of the dutch team and i can't say i was that impressed but maybe it's just my PSV bias and he's from our rivals ajax :think:

he can prove me wrong of course but i don't have high hopes


also his salary at Barcelona being 16 million a year :omgno:

but even though i'm not a fan of these dutch players, it is great for dutch football anyway seeing first Frenkie De Jong moving to Barcelona for 90 million, salary of 16 million a year
