"Went to a fancy dress party and something clicked"

I don't blame him, it's fooking horrible being a man today. I'm thinking about changing sex myself, just for the perks.

Whether or not you "can tell" is she biologically male, it's obvious for her hair, makeup, and clothing she identifies as a woman. Misgendering is a crappy thing to do, and while I don't believe it should ever be a legal matter, I hope the train sends her an apology letter, and it would be nice if they included a return journey of her choice.

Spoiler:

It's been a while since I worked in retail but I do remember you "glaze over" and don't really notice what people look like, so in the second case I'd give the guard the benefit of the doubt that he was in autopilot and responded purely to the voice and ticket

Amy Jade 23-03-2019 07:05 PM

I kinda understand the guard a bit. When I worked in Asda and I was serving one person after the next I could sometimes misgender by total accident

Amy Jade 23-03-2019 07:19 PM

Just watched the whole thing and honestly...big deal over nothing.

I fully support anyone's choice of course but she still has a very deep voice and a quite masculine face - I can totally understand how she could be misgendered just from a glimpse. Seems to be about money.

Exactly! She's got a deep ****ing voice for **** sake.

If blindfolded and you heard her voice, I guarantee the majority of people would think that's a man.

That's how she earns her money.

As always it comes down to intent; if it's a genuine mistake or misunderstanding that's one thing. If it's being done deliberately or in a pointed way then that's another matter.

Even non-trans people get mis-gendered from time to time. It happens.

I had the misfortune of being mistaken for my mother's husband once (:umm2:) I didn't go on This Morning to cry discrimination. A mistake is a mistake.

I think you should get in touch with This Morning and see if they'll do your story.

I mean, you were falsely accused of incest in your story.

Not being funny but if I met her on a train I'd ask for her autograph. Spitting image of Mrs Brown.

I never said it was. :oh:

People make mistakes in referring to people as things they assume they are. :fist:

armand.kay 24-03-2019 12:07 AM

she deserves an apology.

It's really easy to say this from the prospective of a cis person who's never gone through the trauma of feeling like you're in the wrong body. while this may not seem like a big deal to you to trans people misgendering can be extremely hurtful.

Yeah her voice is deep but I've met old ladies with deeper voices. If they can see she's clearly presenting as female I don't see why they would get confused.

My heart bleeds! for someone's hurty feelings.

Why should we care?

Do she care about the hurt feelings that we have in our lives?
