This is really bad, sadly.
Sorry but to me Emily is a disaster presenting this.

It seems Boris has difficulty concentrating.

:joker: nice one.

bitontheslide 18-06-2019 07:56 PM

i revert to what i've said several times before. I don't trust a single one of them, and that includes Rory

joeysteele 18-06-2019 07:56 PM

Sorry BBC.
This format has been a disaster.

Absolutely awful.
I'm really disappointed.

This last question is a ridiculous one.

parmnion 18-06-2019 07:57 PM

Michael Gove...looks like a shrivelled cocained penis....still.

Jeremy hunt...a robotic machine, or an ex public schoolboy with a metre stick down the back of his shirt..

Boris Johnson. .waffle waffle waffle..

Rory stewart..well he sounds ok and is coming across fine....but he looks like someone's sewn 2 buttons on a sock and shoved thier hand in it for a laugh.

Sanjiv mandi. ..bod.

Liam- 18-06-2019 08:00 PM

Rory does look like what happens when a child wishes their doll would come to life lbr

I agree, this just never got going.

Emily was hopeless too.

It just fell flat.

LaLaLand 18-06-2019 08:08 PM

Michael Gove just riles me. Cannot stand him. The most “liar” of them all too, absolutely shameful.

parmnion 18-06-2019 08:32 PM

5 men taking advantage to manspread. That's all I saw...

Marsh. 18-06-2019 08:47 PM

What a pointless programme. What is even the point when it's not the people getting the chance to elect?

And even if they did, none of them had a chance to speak without that woman talking over them. She's supposed to keep everything running smoothly, not distract from the debate.

But, honestly, if our only hopes to get the country through this Brexit mess rests within these 5 men we are absolutely ****ED.

Cherie 18-06-2019 09:08 PM

Did anyone give a straight answer? apart from Rory when he said he wouldnt lower taxes

Cherie 18-06-2019 09:09 PM

I couldn't believe Boris kept saying 'disorderly' Brexit, that was Mays stock phrase

i thought it was hilarious that no-one would commit to leaving on the 31st October. I thought Boris was shambolic, but I don't think it will do him any harm

MTVN 18-06-2019 09:33 PM

I don't think that debate revealed anything at all so Boris will probably be very happy with it. Problem with it really was that none of the questions are ones that Tory members are that concerned about so they all had to pay lip service to them without really being that passionate about them

I actually think Saj has been the best so far but I think he's preparing to drop out and get behind Boris as one of his key supporters in return for a very good job, those two seemed in agreement the most tonight

I know we rarely get straight answers, however Rory gave at least 2.
He guaranteed he'd never leave the EU with no deal and as you said, the taxes one.

However, it was a badly laid out programme.
Emily failed to keep it moving and it just seemed Boris was intent on trying to ignore her.

No one shone, the programme's format and presenter made it pretty hard to shine though.

This was one of the worst debates I've watched so far as to politics.
Very sadly too, because sitting there on this programme is the next UK Prime Minister.

There's still only one of them I'd support if I was a Conservative.

MTVN 18-06-2019 09:40 PM

Worst one for me tonight was the awfully arrogant 15 year old girl

bitontheslide 18-06-2019 09:45 PM

after the way they all talked tonight, i don't think the tory party will be viable by the end of the year. People go on about the support Boris has, but it's only 40% of the parliamentary party. May had more support than that in her prime, so all this painting of Boris as the saviour is completely wrong.

The number of MP's that support Rory alone is enough to kill any chances Boris has of getting anything passed parliament

I agree with near all that.

This is a mess which is why the likely only thing to do is pass May's agreement.
At least then the leaving process issue is enacted.

The useless presenter failed to press just how with the EU not sitting, our Sumner recess and then conferences.
Where is the time to negotiate anything of substance.

We were advised not to waste the time extended by the EU.
It's all we've done.

This wasn't a debate in my opinion.
It was a question and answer session always failed by being asked wrong questions.
With real debate between the candidates closed down by Emily.

Boris, maybe still treading carefully to not engage with the others, either looked tired or just watching the clock.
Rory seemed fed up and disillusioned by the later stages.
As I was too.

Rather than being a debate, this format stifled debate.
Of which Emily made things much worse as to that too.

Really sad state politics is in.
It really saddens me to say and see that too.

It could well be who gets the leadership this time, is like May, holding that poisoned chalice and it will bring them down too.
Either by failure on brexit or in a general election.

I was quite heartened to hear none of them said they would crash out anyway

These debates just confirm the Tories are finished come another GE. Everyone is sick of these politics, and want change - even if it's Brexit party...

Livia 19-06-2019 01:17 PM

I think the Tories and Labour are finished unless one or both of them comes up with some kind of radical change of plan.

there is nothing radical coming from them though. Labour are contemplating a remain path at the moment apparently and last nights "debate" showed that none of them have a solution. The only way we will leave the EU is if the EU say to us that our time is up
