BB got its worse rating last night of only 2.6 million!! (and other ratings related threads)

ITV- BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT got 6.4 million viewers

BBC1- HOW WE BUILT BRITAIN got 5 million viewers

In general, the show's ratings have been down for the past few nights and with it back to 9pm most of this week, how will the ratings be in a week's time?

Amy21 11-06-2007 01:14 PM

Dont worry it will pick up!. On Launch night it got over 8 million viewers. Big Brother wont be beaten by any channel on tv. It always wins in the end. Just you watch.

On launch night it got 6.2 this year.

I expected BGT to get the higher rating anyway. I hope BB picks up.

Chrizzle 11-06-2007 01:19 PM

Why does it even matter how many people are watching.
As long as your watching it shouldnt matter.

Arneldo 11-06-2007 01:19 PM

2.6M is good. Its not its worst ratings, last year it sunk to 1M. It was never gong to beat Britains Got Talent, and they never count the viewers who watch on 4OD.

DiscoGnome 11-06-2007 01:21 PM

Ratings, schmatings.

I read an article somewhere that is got 8 million viewers towards the end of the launch night show.

Endemol will be watching them ratings closely.

I think the show will be okay, especially after Emily's contribution.

I dont think Emily's racism is a good way to up Big Brother ratings. Racism is very serious issue and it could of got Big Brother axed. Luckily it didnt. I would of cryed loads :bawling: if it got axed because of her racist behaviour . I hope the ratings keep going up and up and ebat all the other shows to become the best tv show on tv ever .

The viewer ratings are quite important. I believe it was because
of low ratings that we have lost the Saturday BB program. If it does stay low or drop I guess we could lose more coverage. I'm not over bothered by it, but they do count for something.

easypeasy 11-06-2007 02:21 PM

ratings are the most importent thing to a tv station, ratings= money.
it doesnt surprise me the ratings are so low, its hardly entertaining this year.

missbling 11-06-2007 02:25 PM

it has been boring since friday imo compared to last week

spacebandit 11-06-2007 02:29 PM

Its getting poor ratings, as predicted by some - me included :pat: , because its making BB4 look like thrilling TV.

the all female launch night was a non-starter - people just switched off,
its OK gladhanding and stroking each other about who watches what and how wonderful it is but it means nothing in TV show survivability terms. I've been an avid viewer since series 1, BB4 was dreadful, and BB7 peed me off so much I stopped watching halfway through, caught a couple of highlight shows a week and watched the finale...this time I'm tuning in, but have yet to watch a show all the way through - its dull.

Ratings, schmatings ????

Poor ratings will kill this show faster than Jade Goody.

Diehard fans bigging it up regardless of how bland it is, and being blind to the fact - thats one thing, but in the real world the viewing figures are the be and end all.

Something drastic needs to happen.

I'll wager there was a meeting held with C4 and Endemol when they found out those ratings - the question what are Endemol going to do ?.

For BB7 they ripped the voting public off and put the Nikkifreak back in..

you wanted "twists", well you are going to get them, and they'll be desperate.

Funny, with a house made up of a good cross-section of HMs like some people were practically begging for before it started, me included :pat: and this problem wouldn't have happened.

I haven't been liking this show at all, and now I suspect car crash TV on the horizon.....

Whats the phrase I've been trying to avoid - oh yeah - told you so

Pity.

I recommend Tomb Raider Anniversary, problem is I've already finished it.

Yeah this week's slower than last week but we had three weeks last year of dullness so I'm sure things will pick up allthough I did watch the repeat of BGT at 11pm last night and it wasn't half bad I have to admitt :)

Mrluvaluva 11-06-2007 02:33 PM

The HM's aren't very eager though are they? I mean, if the twins found a secret door in the pool, why aren't they looking at ways to get in etc?

Cognitive thinking would be required and twirling is their limit

Ratings don't always reflect the population!

Ratings aren't always taken as fact, it is just an estimate.

How ratings work:
A number of people have blackboxes which keeps track of the programmes they are watching then they can work out the estimate for the whole country.

Myself - I don't trust ratings!

Thanks, I never knew that, I thought they were reliable to the 1000th.

easypeasy 11-06-2007 03:19 PM

the television industry trusts ratings.........

Exactly. Ratings are important to the advertisers. Low ratings and CH4 loses revenue.........

The plain fact is thus far this year it does not deserve good ratings.......

The Emily incident will only produce an upward blip in the ratings as people watch out of curiosity.......Once over the ratings will keep dipping unless worthwhile story lines develop.

It amazes me how some people think Emily is an out and out racist. I'll tell you this for free.......A racist would not want to socialise and banter with a race they hated. A racist wouild not go on a show where they full well know different races have to mix together.......The main problem is that some confuse cultural conflicts of interest with racism.......The word racism is used as carelessly as the word love and hate. Often indicated but seldom meant........

It wasn't a good way Amy, but it happened and the BB show was happy to show us the un-cut footage, including the (N) word.

It was about ratings & money.

The BB show won't be axed midway through BB8 as they are obeying rules. But, if the ratings start falling below 2 Million, the future could be different.

Completely agree, but I will at least get some entertainment from seeing what they try to pull off to bump the ratings up. I have my fingers crossed for naked mud wrestling but realistically I don't think so.

As for this:

May I suggest God of War II.
