Dragula season 3

Not sure if anyone's watched the first two seasons on YouTube but they're basically a lower-budget version of Drag Race with a horror theme, and challenges that're somewhere between "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here" and "Jackass".

It's been something of a sleeper hit, though, and the budget is getting bigger

Ooh I enjoyed Series 1. Can’t remember if I watched series 2 or not so that probably means I didn’t. Will try to give this a go though.

I can't say I've watched a full season of this before* but getting Evah Destruction, Maddelyn Hatter and Landon Cider all in the same cast is pretty incredible

*although I am familiar with some of its alumni (Meatball )

I remember trying to watch Season 2 but I couldn't get into it, I might try watching this series though as I'm familiar with Evah, I've seen a few videos of her performances and she seems like she'd be a real contender.

Plus having a Drag King is quite interesting and sets it apart from Drag Race.

I enjoyed both seasons tbh although S2's James Majesty was a major annoyance of the "Jeffree Star" variety. Crazy ego without much to back it up. Season 1 was a lot more dramatic and confusing but a first season of any show is always a bit weird.

Disasterina made S2 a howl. I'm looking forward to this.

I loved S2  Dahli <3

The diversity in this cast is amazing - A drag king, a trans woman, a woman assigned female at birth!
I’ve enjoyed Dragula a bit more than Drag Race recently (although agree that James did ruin last season a bit)

Anyone watched episode 1 yet? I really like the cast but the floor show it’s self was so disappointing - especially when you compare it to the first few floor shows last year

Shaun 30-08-2019 01:25 AM

oh it's on Amazon Prime?

oh dear.

lewis111 30-08-2019 08:16 AM

Yeah but if you just search into Twitter Dragula link there’s a few that pop up
Lemme know if you need a link I manage to find it on Dailymotion

Will this be the fourth night in a row that I intend to watch the second episode of this, and then decide I can't be bothered? Let's find out!

MB. 08-09-2019 05:59 AM

It's just so much unnecessary effort to open up Prime Video I cba

MB. 08-09-2019 06:16 AM

Update: I am indeed watching the second episode, even though I found the first to be surprisingly self-serious in its tone and the judging to be utterly incoherent:

1) Why exactly was [winning queen]'s look, which comprised a corset, a titty bib and the devil horns that Naomi Smalls wore for her boots look on All Stars 4, and didn't read 'super-villain' in the slightest, deemed worthy of the win?

2) Why was [eliminated queen]'s look deemed the worst, besides the judges deciding for some ridiculous reason that super-villains shouldn't be campy? (well, that and the queen's reasoning behind the look, i.e. "my outfit is going to be meat-themed because the real super-villain in America today is the meat industry!", which... calm down, Linda McCartney)

3) Why did one of the Boulet Brothers being all "we're not going to judge any of you on your drag, because drag is an ART FORM and it is SUBJECTIVE" like some sort of Saturday Night Live parody of Sasha Velour, and then proceeding to immediately judge them all on a bunch of subjective nonsense criteria instead, make me piss myself laughing more than anything else that happened in the episode, bar maaybe the quote above?

4) Why isn't Phi Phi O'Hara a judge on every major reality competition talent show on the planet already?

5)

MB. 08-09-2019 06:17 AM

....never mind, I've already binned off watching the episode to listen to the A Star is Born soundtrack on YouTube instead

MB. 08-09-2019 07:10 AM

Dragula, episode 1: the meat industry is the greatest evil in this country
Dragula, episode 2: eat this offal you cowards

MB. 09-09-2019 04:54 AM

"I'm not used to being subjected to bodily fluids being saved in freezers"

"Well I'm not used to being subjected to glamour!"

...what even is this show

MB. 09-09-2019 04:59 AM

I was about to complain about how the drama on this show is repetitively regurgitated to the point of nausea, and then tampon-in-the-freezer-gate happened and I forgot everything that I'd been planning to write

MB. 09-09-2019 05:25 AM

"All I can do is stick DIRTY NEEDLES that I dropped on the FLOOR back into my FACE. I AM HAVING A MOMENT"

holy **** Hollow Eve is such a mess

MB. 09-09-2019 05:31 AM

Louisianna dressing up as Anita Dobson for the floor show

MB. 18-09-2019 06:50 AM

Maddelynn Hatter said **** the big picture, Clint!

Her and Hollow Eve are probably my two favourites thus far, and it's no coincidence that they've both had massive reality TV meltdowns when faced with the prospect of *checks notes* getting fruit thrown at them and getting a tattoo respectively

MB. 18-09-2019 06:52 AM

...I didn't realise episode five had been released as well, and so I'm now regretting having just checked the Dragula wiki page. Is this show's stubborn resistance to sticking to a coherent release schedule part of its ~quirky alternative charm~ too or are Amazon Prime just really incompetent?

lewis111 09-11-2019 10:40 AM

Finally finished this. The season got A LOT better as it went on. Not as good as season 2 for me but still much more interesting that recent seasons of Drag Race US
The only thing I found rather odd was the fact there was no deliberation in the final, it's like the 3 looks in the finale didn't matter at all which was weird.
