A Question regarding expecting celebs for strictly

I am Getting SOO incredibly sick and tired of those ''scraping the barrel'' annoying moans

while if we're realistic, the most famous celebrities are unlikely to do any RTV

so honestly i personally applaud the SCD producers going for a diverse, fun line up, not the biggest celeb names but most this year too seem a fun bunch (that with 5 or 6 more to go)

let's review our contestants so far

Quote:

Cath, Emma Barton bring in the Corrie and EastEnders viewers

David James, well known from premier league and england national football team

Will Bayley, world number 1 from the sport he does at paralympics Table Tennis, also gold medallist from 2016 Rio paralympics

Karim Zeroual, CBBC viewers, more for the younger target audience

Saffron Barker, brought in same reason they had Joe Sugg last year, more youth to strictly's target audience

Viscountess Emma Weymouth, appeals to strictly's upper class target audience

Mike Bushell, internal BBC signing, same way Anita Rani, Naga Munchetty, Matt Baker, Gregg Wallace were signed

Chris Ramsey, pretty much known from his appearances in Celebrity Juice, Mock the Week, IAC Extra Camp co-presenter in 2016

Michelle Visage, clever signing given how popular Drag Race is

so it isn't ''scraping the barrel'' they exactly know who to sign, and how to appeal to most of the target audiences

my question is ''are u realistic or unrealistic in thinking who might be doing SCD?

The fact they got some bottom of the barrel socialite and they continue to pick people not on who they are and what they can bring but who will say yes and who ticks boxes for the BBC tells its own tale.

They picked a BBC teleprompt reader for small sports breaks who is on tv for about 30 mins a morning 4 days a week - he even looks like the last one they picked

just terrible casting

And 17 years in it's led to an incredibly long running and successfull series.

The fact you find non-white contestants "ticks boxes" and can be cast for no other reason says more about you than them.

Royal weddings get 20 and they are bloody awful

I fully expect this series to be the lowest audience for many years

and that despite there being some unknowns too on line up, like Seann Walsh, or Dr Ranj who wasn't hugely known either, Stacey the least famous of the finalists who won

Twosugars 05-08-2019 11:31 AM

The launch where they partner up should be end of month/start of next then it kicks off 3 weeks after that

LeatherTrumpet 05-08-2019 11:34 AM

the casting is getting more and more like CBB and that is very bad

LeatherTrumpet 05-08-2019 11:38 AM

and its needs an injection of testosterone and quickly

last years scandal. the fact that the winner split up and copped for witha dancer, Darcy quit with people questioning why a "no body" filled her shoes and why. the whole Sean walsh thing

not good, not good at all

who cares about star quality on this show :idc: you don't get it, it isn't as important as on a show like ''the jungle'' or ''CBB'' shows where it is about the celebrity

with strictly it is more about the dancing

Motsi has won numerous dance competitions and been a judge on Strictly in Germany and Germany Got Talent but yea she is a nobody who has never done anything

A good test of celebrity fame on these shows is whether the contestant had a Wikipedia page before the show. Two in this list didn't.

Not that it matters for Strictly anyway, because the public get to know them on the show.

Anyway I don't watch Strictly.

3 weeks? I only thought there was a one week gap

Anyway I’ve always found strictlys schedule odd. They prerecord the pairing - but still choose to air it weeks before the series starts and you feel like you’re waiting years for the series

And they prerecord the results to air a day later - but complain when results leak. It’s ever so odd.

Denver 05-08-2019 11:53 AM

They always have a 3 week game from partner reveals to live show 1

Strictly Jake 05-08-2019 11:58 AM

You absolute hypocrite. If anyone is a moaner it was always you with your z lister and rolling eyes type comments!

Prerecording the results has always been weird to me, like what’s the point really?

You should :nono:

Agree with the rest

Always better to watch lesser known people eager to impress than a jaded old horse ( Jerry Hall springs to mind)

would it not be a lot better to ditch "people who you my have heard off" and just have "people that you have not heard "

ie civilian

and ditch the sycophancy from the presenters at the same time?
