So many people have fallen for the rubbish spewed about the environment, its really shocking

Well I’m not the only one not eating a burger, am I? With 375 million vegetarians and 600,000 vegans there’s a lot of people not eating burgers. You’re making it sound as if there’s nothing people can do, but if everyone’s thinking there’s nothing that can be done, nothing will be done.

Nothing changes until people are ready to change themselves and the more people that realise that the better our environment will become.

So people shouldn’t do their little bit to help, because other countries are worse polluters? Let’s just chuck oil in the sea and be done with it then

I saw a picture of FB of all the airplanes over Europe at any given time, but its the cows that are killing us

Tbf, if people are inclined to want to help make a difference, they can only do so in ways they are able to. Unless a university uses planes, nothing they do to change as an organisation will have an effect on air traffic.

I think you've missed the point.

A "little bit" of help is surely better than nothing at all.

That "little bit" can potentially build and grow and make a change. The only thing you get from doing nothing... is nothing.

That still doesn't change the fact that beef farmers are a soft target, I know a bit about this as my brother is one and there are a lot of things going on that are actually bringing the industry to its knees, the way things are going it wont matter if there isn't a planet because food will be in short supply as farmers go out of business

Well people aren't stopping eating. They stop eating one thing and start eating something else.

not every farm can suddenly switch what it produces, and it what they do produce is worthless where is the money to switch coming from?

I never said they get the alternatives from the same farmers. They probably would go out of business.

I was talking about your shortage of food claim.

Some of the attitudes in this thread are the very things that’ll kill the planet

All of them if we don’t do anything.

Besides, why are you asking me, it was BOTS who said we should let those countries ‘fall into oblivion’ to reduce global warming

Not all farmers are beef farmers.

The industry will change, as the world does and has to in order to survive.

Mystic Mock 13-08-2019 04:05 PM

Yeah this is silly from the University.

Sure maybe cut down how much Beef you have in stock, but an outright ban is just stupid and they're clearly only thinking of looking good to Vegans and people who think that it'll help the environment and aren't looking at it from the other perspective which like what Bitontheslide has already said on here, banning Beef isn't gonna solve environmental issues when it isn't even the biggest problem to begin with.

I'm not an expert on the subject, but do you really think that people stop eating Beef is really gonna make that much of a difference to the planet when peoples lifestyles are killing the planet in so many different and deadly ways?

I'm not meaning to be confrontational btw if it's coming across that way, it's just a genuine question.

Red meat is vile and not good for you

Read up about it.

Florida (and mar-a-lago) will all disappear, several Pacific islands, Bangladesh, the Netherlands and more. Most cost lines will change, several large cities will disappear like Shanghai etc, UK will lose some of its eastern coast areas from encroaching sea.
Theres much more but can't remember

Cows farting vast quantities of methane, a greenhouse gas, is the issue

Your country Nicky will have to redo the flood defences otherwise it will be bad. I'm sure they are on it. It's the poor countries that will suffer the most as always
And it will be gradual so theres time

I'm sure you saying that will be of great comfort to beef farmers

less farmer means less food produced so food prices will increase

OR

we will have to fly it in from far away places....oh wait!

Changes like that will be gradual. There will be time to diversify

Unlike sheep farmers who export 40% to the EU

we already had a horrible flooding, and since that disaster our flood defences have become a lot stronger

i'm having loads of respect for that one girl miss greta thunberg, our voice for climate change, and also that we should all work together to clean up the world and make the world still habitable for the generations to come
