Bolton owners given 3 days to sell or the club gets expelled from Football league

EFL bosses are not happy about the takeover taking so long

It's devastating news, I'm not a Bolton supporter obviously but I grew up with them being a stable team under Sam Allardyce as Manager which was financially well run, and used to be a team that not even the big boys liked to face.

It was horrible yesterday watching them get beat 5-0 and nobody even being that surprised at the result.

I remember Reebok used to sponsor their stadium, could Bolton fans try to plead with them to do a takeover?

AnnieK 25-08-2019 08:57 AM

My Dad is a life long Bolton fan and he's devastated about what's happened to the club he loves. Not only that but there are so many people involved with the club who face losing jobs. With two clubs facing this now, there needs to be stricter rules on who can buy and run clubs.

The club is set to go into liquidation ad the latest takeover fell through

such beautiful memories i have with bolton wanderers, used to play as them too on football manager 2010

A great shame, I always remember Bolton being a fairly decent club in the premiership all those years ago. So is this both Bury and Bolton have until 5pm Tuesday to sort out their situations before they are both expelled?

Money ruined the game.

Nat Lofthouse used to play for a segment of Orange and a cup of tea at half time.

I know that I keep saying this when a club is in financial trouble, but can't the Bolton fans do what Portsmouth fans did when they were in trouble a few years ago and try to get a consortium together to try and buy the club?

Tbh if I had that kind of money I would try to do it myself, so I'm honestly surprised that no local business person in Bolton would not want to buy such a big team.

What's the point? Unless they get a billionaire owner, what chance do they have of challenging Manchester City at the top of English football? May as well call it a day, many more clubs to follow.

Because the fans just love watching their team play, even if they're not the best.

Bleedin' expense to watch mediocrity, with no ambition though.

Haven’t heard much news on either team today. Feel gutted for both fans tbh

Why couldn't Bolton aim to reach the Premier League? Speaking if they get saved obviously.

I've heard that Bury are selling tickets for their match against Doncaster so I'm hoping that's a good sign for them.

Denver 27-08-2019 10:15 PM

They have been given 14 days

Mystic Mock 28-08-2019 05:09 PM

I was reading an article today about their Premier League campaign during the 2004/2005 season and it's crazy to think how well Bolton did in that season, and the calibre of players that they had at the club.

Denver 28-08-2019 05:17 PM

Bolton has been sold

Well done to Bolton on getting their first league win of the season, hopefully it's a sign of things to come.

And I bet that your Dad must be happy about the result AnnieK?🌝
