Here is an interesting poll of polls

Remaining may well be the most popular option, but it only commands support by a third of the population. If we do leave with a deal, its going to be very close to the May deal, which is the least popular option. We are completely screwed

...so the deal that he’s on the brink of pulling off...(..those aren’t my words btw, that’s how some media have been reporting it...’Boris is on the brink...’)...is actually not his deal but Theresa May’s deal...well, maybe a little bit of a tweaked../..rip off Britain version...?...so the lady does all of the work and then the man comes in and takes all of the credit...is that what we’re saying......

Cherie 16-10-2019 07:10 AM

the best descriptor I have heard is its Mays deal with a mustache on it :joker:

Whatever that poll is saying over polls over many months.

I take little notice of polls.
However it's saying on average only under a quarter support a no deal.

Also a fifth of those asked are in the don't know camp, is interesting too.
That's a high number.

Who actually don't know whether they maybe want to remain or leave or leave with a deal or not.

From that poll, the make up of opinion in Parliament is reflected ptetty near correctly.

Consensus not confrontation should be a big lesson our elected MPs take on board from this total chaos of the brexit saga.

bitontheslide 16-10-2019 08:24 AM

i would categorise don't knows by this stage as "don't care" as i think that's probably more accurate. It would reflect people that are completely fed up with the whole thing

I don't think it's as simple as that, there's no "alternate vote" on these polls... and I would imagine that all of those who want to remain, or want to stay in full customs union, would still take a shoddy deal over no deal if those were the only two options on the table.

It would definitely slow the economy but leaving in any form is going to do that. It would be nowhere near the sh**show that No Deal would be and would undoubtedly be tweaked and improved over the coming years. No Deal creates some very real and immediate problems.
