Man of Medan (From the makers of 'Until Dawn')

It was released yesterday, the reviews for it haven't been as good as they were for Until Dawn but I'm still considering picking it up. The next part of the anthology has already been announced too for release in 2020, I believe.

Looks fun, just wish they had more than a one-player-online feature

I hope it's something they'll patch in eventually, or at least make it a feature for the next instalments. It would be an amazing game to play in a party if everyone could play a character.

This looks interesting, and I really enjoyed Until Dawn so definitely considering getting this

Our Barry was telling me about this the other day. :clap1:

They just need to make an Until Dawn 2 tbh but that trailer actually looks REALLY good I think I'm gonna give it a try :clap1:

Amy Jade 31-08-2019 03:54 PM

Got this yesterday and just finished my first play through.

Spoiler:

Alex died towards the end during a chase and had his throat slit and Conrad died right at the end being crushed by a shutter.

It's nowhere near as good as Until Dawn and none of the characters have much depth at all and although I never found all secrets or anything it felt so short, only 3 chapters and one of those is spent entirely on development and the epilogue which is underwhelming.

Spoiler:

I feel like they could have done much more, and SO much is left unexplained like what is in the coffins, what is the 'gold' and why is it making people go mad. At one point a huge monster kills a sailor yet it is never seen again and there are twin brothers on the boat and one died and the other twin never mentions it or shows emotion over his death. The characters also seem to care more about the boat owner Fliss more so than a missing friend.

Ohhh and there really arent that many QTE and they changed the part when you hold your nerve by holding the controller steady. You now have to follow a heartbeat to keep characters calm.

JerseyWins 31-08-2019 04:08 PM

Damn that's disappointing

Until Dawn 2 needs to come out x

Amy Jade 31-08-2019 06:01 PM

I don't see how they could do Until Dawn 2 really. People would obviously want their survivors back and depending on how you played the 1st you could have none left.

If they had a solid story I'd be all for it but The Dark Pictures will be Supemassive's focus for a while I think, not sure where I read it but apparent they have 8 chapters. At the end of Man of Medan the next chapter is advertised.

Spoiler:

it's called Little Hope starring Will Poulter

LukeB 31-08-2019 06:10 PM

will the other chapters be DLCs?

Each instalment will be it's own game, but the games aren't full price so you won't be paying £40 a pop.

Got it yesterday but not played it yet. I like the 5 player part though with friends in the house.

Amy Jade 31-08-2019 10:09 PM

So my boyfriend played while I watched BGT and his ending was terrible

Spoiler:

He never managed to get hold of the thing to start the boat but he managed to have all 5 survivors make it to the end. During the game you contact someone on a radio and they arrived at the end and the military shot and killed everyone :skull:

Toy Soldier 08-09-2019 01:07 AM

Me and my wife played through this tonight. We got a not toooo bad ending, saved everyone except poor ol' Conrad, who

Spoiler:

fell down an elevator shaft and was impaled after I failed one of the "heartbeat" things hiding from the kissy lady monster. Wups!

I enjoyed it. It was worth the £25, though the ending was good enough that I wouldn't play through again, a fine enough story as is.

Spoiler:

Most of that was explained, though. The "Manchurian Gold" is the codename for a WW2 chemical weapon that causes extreme hallucinations. Its being transported secretly inside what are supposed to be soldiers' coffins (so no one would tamper with it) but they leaked and the crew all went mad, some killed each other, some killed themselves and some just died of fright / shock. There was no huge monster (or any other monsters or ghosts)... That was just that guys personal hallucination.
