I do understand the need for the back stories and it's always good to see character development but saying that I honestly find these episodes we've had to just scream 'look these were filmed during covid rules and restrictions it's the best we could do'

Last weeks ep was the worst IMO

I agree that it’s somewhat obvious that the episodes have been filmed in “COVID bubbles” - usually only two or three cast in close proximity, small number of characters per episode, etc.

Nicky91 03-04-2021 01:52 PM

in last ep what we get for monday
Spoiler:

a flashback of Rick, Michonne, and also a Laura flashback their last appearances in the series that is too then

and more how
Spoiler:

Negan & his ill wife Lucille lived in a bunker, and we're getting introduced to another group of villains in those flashbacks too

Still got the Rick spin-off movies to come, eventually. Michonne likely to appear in those at some point too I'd think, though probably not the first one.

Nicky91 04-04-2021 08:38 AM

and Daryl/Carol spin off series to come either after the final season

Toy Soldier 04-04-2021 08:40 AM

Also after the WD season finale tonight, FTWD season 6 part 2 starts up next week :hee:. The superior Walking Dead franchise at this point.

then our dutch FOX goes back to reruns of Chicago Med, Fire, PD

perched for tonights last ep, the one i have been waiting for such a long time, my fave character's background story

Nicky91 06-04-2021 07:28 AM

ep22, my score 10/10

:worship: loved seeing his background story, also very emotional (you can really see they are a irl couple too, very convincing acting work there either )

but also makes it even more how Abraham and Glenn's deaths were just tragic how it led to that, cause i saw some similarities now in those Vipers/Craven his behaviour towards him, more or less the same what i saw in Rick at that moment of those deaths

i feel like the Old Negan is back for good, and no longer now the sadistical character, already knew he must've been a teacher of some sort since he's good around children (first Carl, then Judith, now Lydia)

what i want for season 11 now, Maggie needs some closure, a talk with Negan would do her good he has changed (he kinda saved their lives from Alpha, being bait for beta so daryl was able to defeat him, also saved judith/dog from snow storm), hearing this story too basically (he/lucille were kinda similar soulmates like her/glenn, and he also had the same pain when she ended her life while he was only postponing the inevitable with trying to find more medicine)

the moment when he sang ''you are so beautiful'' to his wife

also nice to see he always has had the love for cooking either

and i feel like he still has lots to add to the group in terms of skill (cooking, + he is also a good fighter, good with a gun as well)

:omgno: You're missing out Nicky, the first 3 seasons were hit-and-miss but since season 4 (when Morgan joined as a main character and some other new main cast) it's been a great show, IMO better than the main series.

Josy 07-04-2021 09:30 PM

Negans episode was the very best of the extra 6 imo

And possibly my favourite back story of the entire show

Babayaro. 04-05-2021 09:25 AM

Just finished watching the bonus eps

Negan’s and Gabriel & Aaron’s were both fantastic, and some of the best in years. :clap1:

Carol and the rat, however... Absolutely terrible.

One of the oddest things about that episode is that you could "tell" it was filmed with heavy Covid restrictions. In Alexandria it was visually totally empty pretty much... you only actually saw a couple of characters the whole episode... but they played "fake" background noise of people/voices/general town stuff to make it seem like there were more people there in the background. It was somehow really obvious though and didn't feel natural... you could tell no one was actually there?

Toy Soldier 12-05-2021 12:06 PM

Re: Latest FTWD episode...

Morgan is so over-powered, an actual ninja :joker:. He was serving Season 3/4 walking dead Michonne in the big fight scene except he only has a pointy stick not a sword.

I mean yes it was awesome but a bit Superhero-ish.

Babayaro. 12-05-2021 01:35 PM

Has anyone watched World Beyond??

Babayaro. 12-05-2021 01:35 PM

yikes its ratings on imdb, etc are terrible :skull:

I've finally gone back to watching after dipping out when Rick left so early season 9 and honestly the show didn't struggle without him to me, season 9 got better as it went on and I actually really enjoy some of the new characters a lot. Undeniably the quality has dipped buy seasons 5 - 8 were absolutely awful so it's nice to see it improve on that.

I really like Magna and her group, Yumiko and Connie especially and the Whisperers are way creepier and threatening than Negan ever was. The scene where Rosita and Eugene heard them talking almost the heard was genuinely creepy.

I knew who died on the pikes on the hill ages ago but after watching I was sad to see Enid go and weirdly Tammy Rose - I felt so bad seeing her go from being hopeful taking care of a new baby and then she's dead. Tara was the only one I think was a mistake though, they could have definitely explored her further.

I'm on season 9 episode 16 right now and damn I am gonna miss Michonne in season 10

Nicky91 05-07-2021 06:40 AM

am excited for season 11/final season start next month

Spoiler:

first two episodes of that are a Part 1, Part 2 btw

Toy Soldier 05-07-2021 08:43 PM

I’m at the start of S9 on my rewatch (poor Aaron has just lost his arm) - I actually quite enjoyed the Negan arc. I think one of the main problems when it aired was how long it dragged on for - but on a “binge” rewatch (I watch 2 eps a day when I’m rewatching something) it’s not a terrible story arc. Weirdly, what I didn’t notice on watching it the first time round, Negan really is actually a bit of a sadsack right from the start… his character through those seasons makes more sense in light of his post-Saviours arc.

I’m watching on Prime though and S10 isn’t actually available so will have to source that before I finish 9. I’d like to have watched it all back to where it is now before S11.

I’m wondering if the final Rick Grimes movie is going to coincide with the end of the show, to reunite Rick and (presumably) Michonne with the rest?

Strictly Jake 06-07-2021 06:57 AM

With this being on Star on Disney I might give it a watch from the start at some point. The early walking dead days were amazing.

On the discussion of the Negan arc. The problem was it went on for a very long time. He was hideous and it was fun to watch but it's like the program just got stuck on the story and was struggling to know how to move on. Negan is my favourite character in the show now. When the whisperers came in the show got pretty great again. Just don't get me started on the Covid episodes. The Daryl and carol stand alone episodes etc. I certainly won't be watching the Daryl and Carol spin offs

I miss Rick and Michonne but I'm looking forward to the movies!

The first few seasons are great, it takes a bit of a dip for a few season's but the last couple of seasons have been pretty good again

I'm watching it for the first time myself. I started just 3 weeks ago and I'm on season 6 already, and I'm loving it! It's absolutely fantastic. Every season has been better than the last one. The storylines, characters, action, thrills, suspense are all top notch.

I've heard seasons 7 and 8 are the only weak seasons, which I'm surprised about since Negan is a prominent character in those 2 seasons and I've heard he's a fan favourite. Looking forward to him, heard so many things about him, both good and bad.
