Paralympian Libby Clegg signs up to be the first ever blind contestant

According to the Sun, it will be very interesting to see how she does on ice and has a few potential wow moments

Lisa George who plays Beth in Corrie as also signed up although she seems more of a IAC type signing

LukeB 22-09-2019 11:34 PM

I have no idea? They do the same for IAC and X Factor aswell, unless all the people they would like from ED dont want to but I could see the likes of Kerry, Priya, David etc doing it

Priya and David have both done shows so theyd deffo be up for it. Even Chas and Marlon would be possibilities imo

Why not Nicky? She has as much right as anyone else. Just because she has a disability does not mean she should be unable to compete in this, otherwise that would be discrimination :nono: I am quite surprised that you would laugh at that to be honest.

i didn't mean that as something rude, but she cannot see the DOI audience who you got to entertain

laughing was not aimed at her, but more them signing a blind contestant, they could rather sign someone else with a different disability if they want to go for a paralympian on the show

She can't see them but they can see her and it is them who has to be entertained . Surely any positive experiences will help others suffering with disabilities to show that they needn't be excluded from activities. Its very positive that shows like DOI highlight these things

Nicky adding ableism to the long list...

Vanessa 24-09-2019 02:46 PM

This sounds interesting. Really curious at how they're going to do that.

You would think from someone who claims they have a disability that you would be more accommodating to Disabled contestants rather then take fun of them

You're disgusting.

Tom4784 24-09-2019 03:27 PM

It'll be interesting to see how she adapts to things like solo skating and such where she might not have a partner to help guide her around the ice.

whoever is paired up with her has it very tough being her vision, as well as her performance, and technical teacher

oh and everyone apparently forgetting i supported lauren steadman, jonnie peacock :idc: still not sure about will bayley though, but maybe i know more after week 2 about will

Still doesn’t make you less of an ableist.
