She can hit all the notes but she's missing the richness Karen has in her voice and the depth. Was listening to Tracy Chapman earlier as well love her voice too, I think I'm more of a fan of deeper, lower singing voices in both Male and female singers. They have more character for me

I'm besotted with this... and kd's voice in general.


And running a close second.. one of the best singer-songwriters ever imo...

Rumour reminded me of a mix of Karen Carpenter and Dusty Springfield.

I have to say, Karen Carpenter's voice was exquisite, like cut class.

There was just something really special about Karen's voice, I cant even put my finger on exactly what it is. Cut glass is a good description though.

Of the big voiced power houses she would be my choice too but they're not the type of voices I really love

Kate's is great yeah very unusual and distinct. Macy Grey as well I like the grittiness of hers

Yeah again though as much as I can appreciate how good singers like her are, they just dont do anything for me

Sineads voice hasn't aged well. I always preferred Dolores O'Riordans of the Irish singers though

There’s just something about female vocalists of the 60’s/70’s and earlier that was so classy and “perfect” voice wise. You just don’t hear those kinds of tones and vocal maturity enough anymore Yano? The majority of current chart topping women sound too similar imo. Karen Carpenter was just incredible.

I must say though if you like Karen, have you heard of Rumer? British singer who literally sounds just like Karen it’s scary.

Disagree. I always go to her gigs whenever she is in London and her voice sounds as good as ever :smug:
